A strange noise came from the front of the house, almost like small bell. As I walked to the front  door, I heard , footsteps... retreating? It still bewilders me how they got my address or how they know I'm alive.

"The fire" was an "accident", although it was a set up made by the capitol to start over. I escaped when I saw the burning of colony 8. Red was the land and sky as if coated in blood. I was entranced by the deepness of the red that when I became aware of it , the fire was nearly upon us. But there was something strange about the fire, it was completely silent. I recognized this fire from a documentary on amalgamations, this amalgam as part fire, part wind. It would explain why the fire kept into the sky, and why it was so silent. I escaped down the fire escape, and darted into a deserted brick and concrete building. There was furniture as if someone lived there, and I've lived there ever since. I awoke from my memories with a shudder from all the gore.

When I opened the door I found an elegant letter. I was confused for , I never got letters. As the letter opened, it read:

Dear madam,                                                                                                                                                                                          you have been found to have been infected with a recenty developed type of polio called "abante-noh- cura polio". in your best interest we ask that you get a brain transplant so we can test your body while not hurting your mind. If you reject our offer, just know, the symptoms are "dead body parts", starting with the feet and up to the head. The most recognizable  symptom is  your skin will turn a pale gray when that limb is dead. Your brain is most immune so soon you will be trapped in a body of dead meat, until you starve to death. The full process will take about 1 week.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            sincerely,                                                                                                                                                                   qunlutomus detorid                                                                                                                                              head  president of hospital  associations

ps. If you reject service, then decide to come back, just know you're always welcome.

I  was dying.  In one week I would be encased in my own dead body. I tried to shake myself from this thought, but the thought was so vivid. I laid down on the amber modern sofa and turned on the TV. Ironicaly, the program was on the human mind. When the show was over, I was covered with my sweat. My stomach felt like cottage cheese, crumbling and smearing all over my insides. I  decided to go scavenge  for food in the forest that had grown from the ruble of colony 9. I put my foot on the cold marble, but, it wasn't cold. It wasn't hot either. I couldn't feel anything. As I slowly looked down at my feet. My hands shook. They were a pale gray.
