"Alrighty" I said as I put the coconut in the mail, "here goes nothing". And off it goes, into the mail box and into the post office. I have decided, as my first task, to see if It is possible to send a coconut in the mail. It should be back by the end of the day since I'm sending it at 6 o'clock in the morning.
"You're crazy Aurora, you know that right?" Marisa asked me. "Well we do all have a degree of craziness within us." I responded, but only to get a smirk in reply. "Don't give me that look, your the one who wanted to help." I said in a laughable tone.
Marisa has been with me since the beginning of time, we do everything together (even some mischievous things, mmwwahahaha). Me and Marisa are partners, partners in crime that is.
"Will y'all stop giving each other the evil eye, ya know y'all ain't enemies." says Dutch with a wacky grin. his full name is Dutch Henry, he was named after the horse thief Dutch Henry, (whose actual name was Henry Borne). He also has been with me and Marisa through some mischievous
times.
"So what's next one the list of tasks Aurora?" Marisa asked.
I think I'm going to ignore my list of stuff to do and just wing it, you never know, something interesting might happen.
"The next thing to do is to...." just as I was about to finish that sentence a red 1949 Ford F1 truck pulls up right beside us.
"How's life treated you young'uns?" asks the towns granny, everyone calls her Grandma Amilea, no one knows her real name though. She usually stops by around this time to drop off some of her special blue-raspberry jam. No one knows what else is in it, she always says that its a secret, but I think that she puts bourbon in it.
Dutch helped Grandma Amilea out of the car as Bob Joana walks up. "Hey Bob" everyone says almost in unison.
"Hey guys, Aurora, are your parents in?" Bob asks.
"Yeah, they're inside, just go right on in." I respond, Bob is the grocery store manager, he is also related to like half of the United States. As Bob goes in he takes Grandma Amilea with him. As soon as the screen door shuts behind them, Carla Jones appears, says hi, then heads inside, it is almost like everyone in our town is showing up to my house.
While all of the adults were talking me, Marisa, and,Dutch decided to bike to the airport.
"Well, well, the three amigos, what can I do for y'all?" Says Joe Garrison as we enter the small airport terminal. The terminal was very busy, which isn't normal for a small town of Arizona.
"Where did all these people come from?" Dutch asked.
"John Jumper is flying in today on the 6:50 am flight, these people are all reporters and crazed fans." John Jumper, is coming here? Well I'll be darned, nothing as interesting as John Jumper ever happens here. The infamous John Jumper has set the record for the fastest sky dive at two thousand and thirty feet, setting the fastest record in history.
"John Jumper, that's so cool," Marisa says, almost jumping with excitement. As she says this the man himself strolls through the terminal doors, surrounded by photographers and erratic fans. "He is even cuter in person," Marisa sighs. Joe, Dutch, and me laugh, Marisa has had a crush on John Jumper since the beginning of time.
John Jumper walks over to the main terminal desk, which was where we were. "Has my baggage come in yet Mr..."
"Garrison, Joe Garrison, and not yet Mr. Jumper." answers Joe.
"Its John, just John, Mr. Jumper is my father. So, Joe, how is the sky diving conditions in these parts?"
"Well, I don't know what good sky diving conditions are, but the weather is mostly nice, with some rain in the near future." answers Joe.
"Mr. Jumper sir, are you really gonna go sky diving here?" Marisa asks him.
"Indeed miss, why don't y'all join me?" John Jumper says. "As long as its cool with your parents though."
"Sure we'd love to, and I'm sure or parents won't mind" I tell him.
"Well alrighty then, come with me, we are about to jump out of a plane"
The second that John Jumper says those words the clock strikes seven, signal that an hour has passed. Making it an hour less of time in the world, an hour less to live.
