"This is the spare room." Uriel says as he opens the door to the room.
The room has plain, cream wallpaper, a plain, wooden bedside table and a plain, white bed with matching sheets, pillow, etcetera.
"I know it isn't much but it's our only spare room, sorry.." he says.
"No, it's fine. I don't mind, I'm just staying over." I explain, walking into the room and sitting on the bed, bouncing on it slightly.
"Seems comfy!" I say and smile up at him, he looks away. "...Do you wanna sit?"
"Uh yeah, sure." He stutters and sits next to me. Silence. Uriel looks at his phone to see the time, 05:27.After sitting silently for a minute or two, Uriel breaks the silence.
"What do you want for dinner?"
"Uh...I don't mind, what do you have?" I respond.
"I think I have tomato pasta...is that okay?" He asks.
I nod.
He gets up and goes to the door, I follow him.
"I'll go make it now, it's a ready meal so it shouldn't take long." He says and leaves to go to the kitchen.
I go back to the bed and lay on it, staring up the ceiling. He's so nice. I've known him for less than a week and he has already helped me out so much and I can see nothing but sincerity in it. I feel a wet drip fall down the side of my face. Recently, it's been hard to not think about the old days...when I'd go out with my dad to the park to play with kites we made... he'd say,
"You can be whatever or whoever you want or need to be..you just have to believe that you can and follow through with that even if it's super hard." With a smile when I'd ask what I'd be and what will happen...I miss him...I guess that's why I feel like Uriel is sincere because, frankly, he seems a lot like dad...
Uriel walks through the door with the pasta, I quickly wipe away the few tears and sit up.
"Here's the pasta-...you okay?" He asks and sits beside me, handing over the pasta.
"Thanks for the food. I'm fine..just thinking about stuff.." I explain and start eating.
"Okay, if you're sure." He smiles subtly at me and then we sit in silence until I finish my pasta.
"So, you're sure your mum is okay with this?" Uriel asks.
"She won't care, she's probably out anyway..." I reply.
"Oh...." he mutters. "What do you want to do?" He looks at me, I catch his eyes, a switch clicks inside me as I turn slightly red.
"I don't...know." I rub the back of my neck.
"Ooh! I have some video games on my Xbox!" He grins pointing to the door.
I've always wanted an Xbox, I used to have a PlayStation2 but my mum sold it for extra money for herself, I think. My face lights up in a smile.
"Cool!" We get up, go to his room and he sets us up as we sit on his floor by the Tv. Uriel turns to me.
"Have you played before?" He queries, hastily, eager to start.
"Well I used to have a Ps2 but my mum sold it." I say.
"Your Mum just gets better and better..no offence." He jokes.
"None taken."
He finishes and sits next to me, a game starts to load up, when he suddenly turns and moves closer towards me.
"Wait! Did you say you had a PlayStation?" He squints at me.
"U-uh yeah." I say and gently laugh. He gasps.
"Traitor!" He whispers and points then cracks a giggle, so do I.
After playing for a while, I finally beat him at something and we start laughing.
"Why am I so bad?" I whine, still chuckling.
"No, it's fine. You're not bad..." Uriel says and we stop laughing for a few seconds when he bursts out again not long after, causing me to as well and fall back into him, leaning on his chest.
