Chapter Four: He's Back

Macgyver's POV
Jack and I walked back inside the conference room to find Thornton talking to Bozer, Riley and Katarina about a case that we had worked a while back. A case we never solved because we couldn't find the person behind a string of murders and kidnappings. The guy had slipped between our fingers and it had hit me hardest because he had killed my sister, Kate. Gutted her like a fish and left her in my apartment for me to find. Noticing that Jack and I were back, Thornton turned to us.

"Mac..." She said.

"He's back isn't he?" I ask softly. Thornton gave me a look but before she could respond I spun around and punched a wall. Everyone stared at me in shock and tears welled up in my eyes. No one had ever seen me get this angry or punch a wall. My hand throbbed with pain and I clenched and unclenched my fist, trying to rid myself of the pain.

"Mac..." Jack said, grabbing my hand.

My whole body was shaking as memories of the case filled my brain. Memories of seeing my little sister gutted, unable to do a thing because I was too late. The promise her killer had made me.
I'll be back and then the real fun will begin.

"He killed her." I whisper as the tears began to spill over and down my cheeks. "He killed my little sister."

Bozer frowned. "You had a sister? Dude why didn't you--"

One look from Riley shut him up. She turned to me and Katarina rushed over, wrapping her arms around my neck. I didn't hug her back. I was too emotionally distressed. He was back and he had kept his promise. When Katarina pulled away, I saw myself in her eyes. I looked like a kid. Someone weak. And I began to get angry. Instead of crying, I was going to find him and kick his ass then bring him to justice. But I could bring him in dead for all I cared. The guy was going to pay for what he did to my sister. Dead or alive.

Jack's POV
I could tell Mac was thinking of ways to track this guy down. And I knew that Mac couldn't care less if he brought him in dead or alive. Mac wanted this guy to pay. And so did I. The guy killed his sister and left her body in his apartment. If that didn't scream 'psycho' then I don't know what did.

I placed my hand on the small of his back. "We'll find him Mac. We will. He won't get away with what he did."

Mac's tense body relaxed a bit under my touch. He looked up at me and sighed. "I know. It's just....she was my little sister, ya know? She didn't deserve to die. Not like that."

I looked up at Thornton before glancing back down at Mac. I smile softly. "You're right. She didn't. Which is why we're going to bring him to justice. The right way." I paised before adding, "Now how about we go home so you can get some rest."

I hope he got the hidden message in what I said.

Mac sighed again. "Okay."

As we turned to go Thornton cleared her throat. I glanced back at her. She was giving me a 'you're responsible for whatever he does' look and I nodded, understanding her silent message. I followed Mac out of the conference room and outside to the car.

He practically grinning with excitement. "Can we make out when we get home?"

I grin back at him. "We can do more than that if you want."
