THIRD P.O.V
Elena sat on the kings sized bed holding a weak, almost on the brink of death, Damon. Tears filled her eyes as she clinged to hope for the vampire. She couldn't help it but somewhere along the way she caught feelings for her boyfriend's brother.
Damon was slowly losing his mind from the werewolf venom the bite he obtained. He was losing grasp of what was real and what wasn't. Sweat drenched his pale skin and his vision was hazy. One moment he was there talking to Elena, the next he was talking to her.
Words where exchanged between the two, but Damon couldn't really recall what he was saying or which one he was talking to. Deep down he knew it was Elena. He didn't want to die in her arms if he was gonna die at all. He wanted her to hold him. Her to rub his hair back from his sweaty skin. Her to tell him she loved him so much and she always would.
It couldn't be like that though. She wasn't here. She was gone as far as he knew.
"It's okay I deserve this," Damon said rasping out weakly "I deserve to die."
"No," Elena said shifting down to rest her head on his chest "No. you don't."
Elena lifted her back up to look at Damon again as he spoke. By now Damon saw her instead of Elena and smiled weakly,"I do Talia, it's okay," he looked at her long black hair that he loved to run his hands threw and her big blue eyes that always stared challengly at him," 'cause if I had choosingly I wouldn't have met you."
Sighing Damon continued, "I'm sorry. I did so many things to hurt you."
Elena still heartbroken and confused still answered even tho she felt her heart break even more when he said Talia."It's okay, I forgive you." She said lightly smiling tears filling her doe eyes.
Elena laid her head back on his chest as he said the words that made her wonder.
"I love you, Talia. So much."
Elena squinted her eyes and sniffled as he softly whispered,"You should know that." She breathed in deep and shook her head up and down and said, "I do."
"I still remember 1864, it was great and you still liked me." Damon said shortly after still hazily thinking he was talking to her. Elena shifted her head so she was looking at Damon face to face. "I like you now." Damon scanned the blue eyed beauty's face taking in every one of her perfect features."Just the way you are." Elena finished.
Closing his eyes, Elena took her chance, maybe her last chance and placed a kiss on his soft lips. It was a short and sweet one, even though Damon was thinking of his long lost love. Elena pulled away and Damon opened his eyes now seeing Elena. Sadness crept into his dying chest as he came too realization that it wasn't her.
"Thank you." Damon said weakly looking at Elena's face even though it's not the one he wanted to see. "You're welcome." Elena said softly looking at Damon who had closed his eyes.
"Well it's me who you should be thanking."
Elena quickly turned her head towards the door where her doppelgänger Katherine Pierce stood in all her curly haired glory. "I'm the one that brought the cure."
Damon opened his eyes to see Katherine moving towards him with klaus's blood, Elena had stood up without him knowing."I thought you were dead," Katherine said to Elena as she made her way to the bed Damon was laying on. "I was." Elena stated
Katherine made it to the bed sitting down leaning over Damon as she uncapped the glass bottle. "You got free." Damon said while staring at her. "Yup, finally." Katherine said while shaking her head, pouring the red substance into Damon's mouth.
Once Katherine took the bottle from Damons mouth he stated," And you still came here." Katherine shook her head smirking while placing a hand on his cheek not moving once she was done."I owed you one." She patted his face getting up turning towards Elena.
"Where's Stefan?" Elena asked confused. Katherine smirked, "Are you sure you care." Elena took a step forward and strongly said," Where is he?"
Katherine held up the bottle looking at the sticky red substance and said," He's paying for this. He gave himself over to Klaus." Taking a deep breath and looking at Elena she then stated," I wouldn't expect him anytime soon."
Squinting her eyes at her curly haired look alike, she asked," What do you mean 'gave himself to Klaus'."
Katherine shrugged her shoulders,"He just sacrificed everything to save his brother. Including you."
Elena looked down not saying anything. Katherine smirked looked at Damon then back at Elena. "Atleast you have Damon to keep you company."
Damon layed there looking back and forth between the two slightly feeling better.
Katherine headed towards the door. "Goodbye Elena," she stopped half way turning back towards Elena."Oh it's ok to love Both, I did. Although Talia claimed Damon a long time ago." Elena just looked at her not saying anything with her mouth slightly opened Katherine tossed her the bottle whilst speeding out.
Elena looked at Damon as he sat up. His eyebrows raised.

Katherine raced out of the house going out the front door but not before waiting a few minutes to pull out her cell phone. She called a number that hadn't been dialed on her phone for what seems to be a century now,but hasn't.
She waited as the phone kept rining knowing she wasn't going to get an answer, she waited for the voicemail box. Smirking.
"Ring ring it's Katherine. Sweety, I think it's time you come home."
