~Chapter 16~ A Long Overdue Rest

Aaron's POV

I looked down at Aphmau on her bed, she was sleeping peacefully, and she looked so beautiful. It has been a few hours, and she still hadn't woken up. I was worried sure, but I had heard everything she had done for me, and I understand now why she is sleeping so much. I owe her everything, and I was ready to give her everything. I pushed back the hair and kissed her forehead. I sighed standing up, I headed down the stairs looking at her one more time. I walked downstairs to Lilith and James playing with some blocks on the floor and I smiled at their brother and sister bond.

"You guys having fun?" I asked, sitting down next to them. 

They both smiled at me. "Lot's of fun!" exclaimed Lilith as she handed James another block. I watched for a little bit as their castle was slowly built, block by block. 

"Daddy?" asked James.

"Yes?" 

"When's Momma gonna wake up?" he asked looking at me with worry. 

I sighed and hugged him. "Soon. She'll wake up soon." He nodded and went back to building the castle with Lilith. I stood up as there was a knock on the door, I walked over to the door and opened it, and there stood Zoey.

"Hey Aaron, I'm here to watch the children," She explained, I nodded and motioned for her to come inside. She smiled, walking inside and over to James and Lilith. 

"Aunt Zoey!" They exclaimed as they ran up and hugged her. I smiled and made my way back up the stairs to Aphmau's room. Once again, I opened the door preparing for an unconscious Aphmau, but instead, I was greeted with a fully conscious Aphmau. 

Aphmau's POV

I heard the door open, and I turned my attention to it. In the doorway stood a shocked Aaron, with wide eyes. "Aphmau, you're awake!"

I gave a small smile, and looked up at him "Yeah, I am." 

He rushed over to me and gave me a tight hug, kissing my cheek. I blushed a bit and turned my head. "I'm sorry..," I sighed.

"Why are you sorry..?!" He exclaimed and looked at me with shock. 

"I should have been there, If I had waited for you, you wouldn't have gotten possessed," I looked down, tears forming at the corners of my eyes. 

"Baby, none of this is your fault. I'm the one to blame, you did so much to save me and I can't thank you enough for that.." He hugged me again, and I hugged him back. "Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Without you, I wouldn't be here," he whispered to me.

I pulled back from the hug and looked him in the eyes, I closed the small space in between us and gave him a quick kiss. I could see a small blush from, but he quickly shook it off. We didn't say anything else, and I just rested my head on his shoulder. We stayed like that for a while. Just the two of us.

Zoey's POV

I smiled at the children in front of. They are so very lucky they have the most amazing parents in the whole world. I couldn't help but laugh a little as I heard some of the muffled words from upstairs.  I turned back to Lilith and James and continued to watch them play. They were lucky, but I could tell, something bad was going to happen. And the children would need to be safe, and I know both Aaron and Aphmau would give their lives for them. I'm praying that it doesn't come to that.
