Phoebe's POV
"Tomorrow at nine?" I confirm, scribbling the time on a piece of paper. "Perfect, thank you!"
I hang up the phone, and jump around happily. I just confirmed my interview tomorrow with the local newspaper. Journalism had been a hobby of mine before the Marine Corps, and I was more than excited to have a chance to do it again.
I went to my room, which was finally unpacked and done. I had been in Boston for about a week now, and everything was unpacked. I dug through my closet, trying to find something to wear for the interview.
After an hour of trying on different outfits, I settled on a simple white dress shirt, black dress pants, and basic flats. Nothing spectacular, but nothing too boring either.
A knock on the door stops me from taking a shower.
"Hey!" Emily says as soon as I open the door. "How ya doing?"
Emily had been over once or twice this week to help me unpack. We had gotten to know each other pretty well. She's apparently dating Torey Krug of the Boston Bruins.
"Great, actually. Finally set up my interview." I reply, stepping aside to let her into the apartment.
"Look at you go. And everything is finally unpacked. You're on a roll." Emily laughs, making fun on me.
I roll my eyes, but laugh along. "Yeah. Everything is falling into place, I guess."
"Where's your interview?" Emily asks, sitting on the couch.
"Boston Herald." I say, leaning against the wall. "Sports section."
Emily squeals, "That's awesome. You'll get it."
I sigh, smiling softly, "I hope so. I need this."
"You'll be fine." Emily reassures me, getting up. "Alright, I'll leave you alone so you can get some sleep and prepare for tomorrow. After your interview, you and I are going out!"
"We are?" I question, following her back to the door. "With who?"
"Torey and his friend. You'll like them both." Emily offers one more mischievous smile, then walks out of my apartment.
I don't like the sound of that....
**********
"We'll definitely keep in touch, you should hear from us soon." My interviewer, Brian, tells me, smiling.
"Thank you very much." I reply, standing to shake his hand.
I quickly walk out of the building, leaving the warmth behind me. Today was cold, and despite being from Buffalo, where it's always cold, I still couldn't stand it. I ran back to my apartment, shutting the door quickly behind me.
I'm barely inside for a few minutes before Emily knocks on my door, "We're leaving in an hour." She says, pushing her way in.
"Do I have to?" I whine, shutting the door and walking into my bedroom.
"Yeah. I'm your only friend, you need more." Emily states, sitting on my bed. "Besides, if you're going to work for the sports section, you're going to need to know a player or two from the Bruins."
I sigh, then start digging through my closet to find something to wear. I decide on a blue plaid shirt, black jeans, and a black thermal jacket. I leave my hair the way it is from the interview, loosely curled.
"C'mon, Torey is downstairs to pick us up." Emily calls from the front room.
I grab my bag, check my hair one last time, and bound down the stairs after her.
