chapter two
Today is the last day of my 5th year at Hogwarts. As always, I don't want to leave. At all. I'm afraid something is going to happen when I'm gone from here, and it's not going to be good.
I am walking to my last class of the day when I am grabbed the same exact way I was earlier this week.
I am stuffed in another closet. Again.
"Malfoy, what do you want?" I spit. It's so strange that he's doing this, but it's kind of annoying. He's hated me forever and all he's done in the past is fight me and make fun of me.
"Harry, I wanted to say I'm sorry for my mood swing the other day." He says. He called me Harry again. And he apologized?
"What?" I said. I honestly didn't see it as a big deal.
"I'm sorry. I brought you to talk the other day, but my emotions got the best of me," he said, shyly.
"It's ok. What's up?" I ask, honestly just wanting to know what he wants.
"Listen.. I know we've been 'enemies'," he says, putting air quotes around enemies, "for a long time. I've always had this feeling about you.." he stutters.
What does he mean by a feeling? He sighs and looks me directly in the eyes. I've never noticed how beautiful the color of his eyes are..
Wait! What am I talking about?!
"I just.. I wanted to ask," he stutters again. I roll my eyes.
"What!" I say, quite loudly.
"Do you want to hangout sometime?" He asks. I am completely taken aback. What does he mean?
"What?" I ask in almost a whisper.
"I've realized that you're not actually.. bad," he says. To be honest, I'm actually really flattered by that. He's hated on me since year one, and this is a change. A nice change.
But how do I know he's not just trying to get information on me? Or kill me? I mean, he does belong to a death eater family, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was just tricking me.
"How do I know you're not lying?"
"If we hangout, I will prove it to you," he says, a confidence suddenly over taking him. Huh. Ok.
"Ok.. but when? This isn't the best time to ask me to hangout," I say. Summer break literally starts tomorrow.
"Yes, I realize that. I thought maybe right when school starts again. Like the day of or the day after we get back. How about I write to you?" He says. He looks excited. I've never seen this boy as happy as he is right now the whole time I've known him.
I give him a smile. His happiness just makes me smile. He is always so mean and angry, so this is a nice change.
"Absolutely, Malfoy. I'll be waiting for that letter," I say, walking out the door.
This is going to be interesting.
---
The beginning of my summer was so incredibly boring. I just wanted to spend time with my friends, but I somehow ended up back on Privet Drive.
However, when Dumbledore picked me up to take me to the Weasley's, my summer wasn't at all that bad anymore.
I did also convince Slughorn to come back to Hogwarts and teach. That was quite the experience.
Today our school lists came in. We are going to Diagon Alley to get what we need.
After getting there, we are immediately looking for the specific items we need for our classes this year.
"Is that Malfoy?" I hear myself saying before I even think. I haven't thought about the boy much this summer, but I still have been waiting for his letter.
Before I know it, we are following him to Borgin and Burkes. Why is he there? Ok. I mean, he does belong to death eaters, but I still am hopeful that he's not like them.
We peek inside and see him talking to the man behind the counter.
I don't remember what else happened. I was off in my own thoughts, thinking about Draco and the strange way he was acting before break.
We arrived back at the Weasley's house later that night.
I'm laying on the floor next to a sleeping Ron when I hear a tap at the window. I swiftly get up, thinking of Malfoy's letter.
I open the window to see a beautiful owl, very similar to Hedwig. The owl is holding a small package and a letter. The package has a small letter already attached to it as well.
As soon as I grab the items, the bird flies away quickly, not allowing me to give it a treat or anything.
I go back to my spot on the floor and grab my wand.
"Lumos," I say in a whisper. I get fully under my blanket, just as I did at the Dursleys when reading. I don't want to wake Ron up, especially when opening these.
I decide to open the small letter on the package first. The front of the envelope reads "Potter" in neat cursive.
The letter reads:
Happy Birthday, Harry
-DKnowing that it's from Draco, I quickly open the package.
Inside, there is a note on top of the small item laying at the bottom. This note reads:
For the bad dreams.
I take out the note and see a small dream catcher. It is green and silver. Slytherin colors.
I smile at the thought, but I do wonder how he knows I have nightmares.
I set the gift to the side and pick up the letter. This time "Harry Potter" is written in the same neat cursive on the front. I open it up and it reads:
Harry,
I promised you I would write to you, so here it is. I'm hoping you would still like to hangout, as I still do. How about we meet the day after we come back. We could meet outside by the lake at 7:30 p.m. I made it after dinner so we didn't look suspicious. I hope this is ok with you. Please reply with a simple yes or no by tomorrow so I know if I should even go out there or not.
Sincerely,
DracoPS: Happy Birthday, the boy who lived.
After reading the letter, I immediately grab a piece of parchment from Ron's desk and rip it in half.
Of course. See you then
-HI sent Hedwig to deliver the letter.
A/N: I couldn't help but post another chapter even though nobody has read my story. :,)
