Caitlin Snow, renowned doctor and bioengineer, disappears after accidentally revealing her powers to the world. 3 years later, Barry Allen, best detective in Central City and secretly the Flash, receives a letter, a chance that she is still alive.

"Caitlin!", she heard a voice call her from afar. She turned to see Barry, as the Flash, looking at her in shock. She stared at his eyes, trying to read his emotions. She saw a mixture of shock, and fear. "Don't be the monster they all think you are!", Barry shouted at her. Monster. He thought she was a monster.Barry Allen, of all people. She fought those thoughts, trying to push it away from her mind.
Monster.
Freak.
Unwanted.
Unloved.
She knew she was slowly about to snap, if not now maybe someday. It was as if there was another side of her, trying to destroy her sanity. She walked to him eerily, until they were just a few inches to about a foot away.
"You don't even know what I am."
"Freeze!" She turned to see a fully-armed SWAT team greeting her. She held her hands up, the insane side taking control of her. "Fine. You asked me to freeze.", ice started to form at her hands, a wicked grin on her face. "Caitlin, don't do this!" She turned to the Flash as she started gaining control of herself.
That was when the bullet struck.
She screamed in pain as she felt the bullet rip through her stomach. Her vision started to blur as the SWAT team started to advance. She blew a cold fog will all the straight she could muster. While the others were blinded, she limped towards the door of the factory, hand held tightly around her stomach.
She looked back, thinking if what she was doing was right. It's not like they're even going to remember you after you leave. She continued to stagger forward, not knowing where she was going, what she was going to do.
Leaving everything she knew and loved behind.
