"Hey, can I have a plate of BBQ ribs please?" I asked the cashier while searching for my wallet. What a nice day to grab my favorite lunch. "That would be 10 dollars. We'll call you when it's ready, what is your name, please?" "Avi", I said while taking out my money. Shit. I'm missing a dollar. "Can you excuse me for one second please?" I asked. "Sure", he smiled, but I didn't wait for a response from him and started looking for my dollar on the floor. I must have dropped it somewhere. Where could it be? While looking, I suddenly felt a pat on my shoulder. I turned around in surprise to see a beautiful woman.
She had kind brown eyes and long dirty-blond hair. She was pretty short and wore a black dress with a white jacket and brown boots, and her smile was a little bit sideways. She was gorgeous.
I stared at her for a while, which was actually a few seconds, till she cut off my thoughts. "Need anything?" She had a beautiful voice. "Uh..." I don't know why I couldn't talk, but I couldn't. "I was actually looking for my dollar. Have you.., seen it?" I started scratching my beard in anxiety and blinking a lot. She giggled and tucked her hand into her pocket while looking at the sky.
She pulled out her hand. "Here, I'll give you mine, just don't crawl on the ground looking for stuff, you look like an idiot", she winked, lightly punched my shoulder and gave me her dollar. "Oh, thank you so much, um..." I was waiting for her to give me her name, but she didn't. "No problem", she smiled. Awkward silence. Dammit. "I guess I'll see you around then", she glanced at me and turned away. I swiped my hand on my face when she suddenly turned around and looked at me. "Just one more thing... remember me", she smiled and was mysteriously gone. Okay.
What the fuck just happened. I stood there, looking at the clouds till the cashier cut off my silence. "Avi", he called me and held a tray with my food on it. I ran to him and was about to pay when I suddenly noticed the woman's dollar. It had the name "Kirstie" and a phone number on it. Oh my god.
"Can you... just one more second..." I stuttered and made a few steps from the now kinda pissed cashier. I copied the number down to my phone and got back. I paid, although giving away Kirstie's bill was a bit hard for me. I took my food and ate faster than ever. I suddenly felt more hungry than I ever had. I got really dizzy while driving home. I couldn't think about anything else but Kirstie. I got home, Kevin was in the shower. I threw myself at the couch and almost cried. I remembered everything about her. Her voice, her face, her smile, her outfit, her eyes, everything. I didn't want it to be the end. 'But don't call her just yet', I tried convincing myself. It didn't go very well. Twenty minutes after that, I found myself dialing her number.
