(Max's POV)

We all tensed when we heard the front door opening and shutting followed by heavy footsteps thumping on the floor above us. Since Dakota was closer to me, she ran as best as she could with the cast on and buried her head in my chest, fear rolling off in waves.

  That prick really scared her.

I wrapped my arms around her and told that she'll be okay and we would escape. It'd be hard, but we had to try.

The door of the basement opened.

"Dakota!" he roared as he saw us together and ran down the stairs, glaring at me.

She quickly jumped away from me and her whole body shook as her eyes were glued to the floor. Her hands wrapped around herself.

"What did I tell you?" he growled at her with a deep low voice and she began shaking in fear.

"She didn't do anything wrong. Leave her the hell alone," I defended her, furious that he was scaring her more. I wanted to stand in between them to protect her more than anything. His eyes slowly moved from her to mine and I could see the jealousy and anger peering into my soul which was not a good combination.

His fist slammed into my face before I could even anticipate it. The force of the punch slammed me into the concrete wall behind me, making my head crash into it. I hissed and opened my eyes to see another fist coming me way.

I was able to dodge it and throw one of my own, catching him right in the jaw, but that pissed him off to no extent. He reached forward and grabbed the chain attached to my neck, pulling me quickly off my feet and I rammed into the floor, wheezing.

My hands went to my neck trying to release pressure of the collar. I was flipped to my back and Axel sat on me, punching me repeatedly. I couldn't defend myself or even try to push him off.

"She is mine!" He screamed in my face and his hands pushed mine away from my neck and replaced them as he started squeezing. My mouth opened wide and I began clawing his hands, no doubt drawling blood as I attempted to get air to my lungs.

"Axel, please stop," my girlfriend's voice shrieked out as she pulled on his neck, trying to get him off me.

As gurgles escaped from my mouth, black dots filled my vision, but that didn't stop me from seeing Dakota pull his face towards her's. His hands finally released my neck as they started kissing. My head relaxed into the ground as I sucked in deep breaths.

Axel got off me, still in their make out session and I couldn't stop the feeling of betray. I knew she was doing to distract him from killing me and I was grateful of it, but it still hurt.

Axel picked her up and wrapped her legs around him as he spun them around.

His eyes opened to smirk at me, enjoying the show he was giving as I rubbed my sore throat. Then he flipped me off and walked up the stairs still kissing her, but I could see her tears running down her cheeks. Before the door closed, she opened her eyes and stared at me, apologetically.

(Dakota's POV)

As soon as he the door was shut and locked, Axel slammed me against the wall and pinned me up with his body against mine, my legs still wrapped around his waist.

"I should kill the brat," he stated.

"No please don't!" I cried out, biting my lip. My heart was breaking at the thought.

He didn't say anything for awhile.

"What did I tell you?" He growled out at last and leaned in with his dark blue eyes three inches from mine. My mind drew blank and I couldn't answer. I didn't know what he wanted me to say.

My silence made his anger grow and he pushed into me harder into the wall and I could hardly breath with the pressure. My hands making weak attempts to push him away.

"I-I don't know,"

"Stop lying. Why were you hugging him?" he snarled.

"I was scared," I whimpered out and closed my eyes as tears slipped out.

"Scared of who?" He asked, menacingly.

"You," I whispered and slowly opened my eyes.

His body froze and he stared at me like he was completely shocked with my answer.

How could he think I wasn't?

"You're scared of me?" He clarified, quietly. Gone was his anger and it was filled with regret. I nodded, mutely. His voice broke at the last word.

"I'm sorry, Babygirl. I don't want you to be scared of me," he whispered and pulled me to him as he took me off the wall. Then he pushed my head into his neck and softly rubbed my back.

I felt him sit down in the couch and soon his fingers began running through my hair in a calming manner and eventually my tears and shaking stopped.

Sorry, it's short. Couldn't think of anything else to write for this chapter.

   Sparrow out.
