Name Day

Willow's P.O.V Today is name day, when pups are 5 days old they are named. Why 5 days?, you ask. Because at five days pups eyes start to change color, and their markings are permanent. Their colors will get deeper a little more every month until they are 6 months old. At 6 months the alpha chooses who will teach the pup the ways of the pack. Pups will have a thorough examine to see if they are healthy enough. If not they stay in the Med Den until they are. If they are disabled/deformed they will go to a special clan called The Knightmare Pack. Where pups will find a good job for them. Some packs, however will kill deformed pups. Not ours though. I grabbed the small Tawny one. Sage grabbed the black one and my mate, Ajax got the little light brown one. (These are the parents below) All three of us walked to the Elder den. I dropped the little Tawny pup softly on some moss. She squirmed and whimpered a little. So did the others but the black one let out a baby howl. The 3 elders looked at each other, nodded grabbed the pups and walked out to the back of the den. I followed, only  the mother was allowed in to decide if she likes the names.

The first elder had the black one

The first elder had the black one. "Cole", she whispered after checking the pup. I nodded my head. (This is coal)

The next elder said  "Ace", and nosed the little pup

I agreed to all of the names and carried the pups home. I lay them next to me and they all suckled peacefully. I fell asleep to the sound of softly falling rain.
