Chapter 1
I walked into the clubhouse, tote bag hanging from my shoulder, my hair swaying as I made my way through the large building up to my office. Pictures of old and current Cubs players lined the hallway walls, intriguing me as found my way around. When I got to my empty, new office, I placed my bag down, taking a large sigh of relief. I looked at the innocent picture of my brother and I as kids that was on my desk, making me fell all warm and fuzzy inside. As recollected old memories, there was a loud knock on the door making me jump.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you!" A shorter, white haired man with large, black framed glasses smiled and I shook my head.
"You're fine!" I laughed slightly, nervously wiping my hands on my blue Victoria Beckham Georgette-paneled wool and silk blend dress.
"How are you?" He gulped.
"Um, in a whirlwind of emotions!" I pulled a strand of my long, naturally straight, honey brown hair behind my ear, looking into his small eyes.
"I know you can do it Camryn!" He sighed and I nodded. "How's the old man?" He smiled softly and I laughed loudly.
"He's alright!" I smiled. "Annoyed at me taking this job but, he's moving up to Chicago in September!" I crossed my arms, leaning against my mahogany desk.
"Only 2 more months till the old man is in town!" Joe gasped and I nodded.
"Yeah!" I giggled. "How are you?" I gulped and he shrugged.
"Alright! I'm babysitting a bunch of little babies down there so, it's pretty exhausting!" He sighed.
"Well that's what I'm here for!" I smiled softly.
"I actually came up here to see when you were going to come down and introduce yourself officially in front of the men?" He looked into my bright greens eyes and I shook my head.
"You tell me when it's a good time!" I chirped excitedly.
"Well, what are you doing right now?" He smirked and I shook my head.
"I'm heading downstairs to meet the Chicago Cubs!" I giggled, standing up straight.
"Perfect!" He laughed, leading me out of my office.
