"Jules Brody. This is a first. Never in my years at this school, did I think you would end up in my office. So what exactly brings you here?"
May I introduce to you Principal Lonsdale of Century High. He was by far the oldest man I've met, with wrinkles gracing his face, it's a wonder how he hadn't retired yet. His skin was drooping off his face but he managed to look somewhat like Johnny Depp.
He's been at this school for longer than I've been alive, making him a school legend, and earning himself a building named after him.I opened my mouth to say something but it was Ms.Carter that spoke.
Ms.Carter.
This woman truly scares me. Like forget poisonous snakes and ghosts, Ms Carter's much worse. I'm convinced she has eyes that the back of her head. I've made theories that she's an alien, undercover as a librarian at our school.
"This young man right here has stolen a school computer with no permission, and then hacked the very system , so he could access all the blocked sites. And then he installed this new software, or something, and after that he started playing video games." She blurted, her eyes furious. All four of them.
And yes she did interrupt my game. I was doing my victory dance after I won this game, against a guy, in Korea, but Carter had to interrupt my glorious moment.
"Really?" Principal Lonsdale asked me. I couldn't tell if he was amused or angry. Having a lot of wrinkles had that affect.
"Well when you put it like that it sounds really bad. But really, it wasn't stolen, it was borrowed, because I had a game scheduled against this guy called Kaito. He lives in Korea, and you know time zones, so I had to do it at school. I didn't exactly hack into the blocked sites, I just disabled the filter for a while so I could access them. And I didn't exactly install the new software...well I did but the game needed the latest version, plus our school computers needed to be updated so it's a win win situation." I tried reasoning him.
"And the video games?" Ms. Carter looked smugly at me.
"Oh...yeah that's all on me."
"Julian Brody," Principal Lonsdale started.
Oh shit. He used the full name. Be prepared to die.
"Where in heavens name did you learn to do something as spectacular as that?"
I breathed out a sigh of relief as Lonsdale continued talking about how I should start using my skills in a professional job. Ms.Carter stood with her hands crossed. Her smug face was gone. She looked really angry. You know in the cartoons when people have air steaming out of their ears. Her face was red, and the Hogwarts Express was flying through her ears.
Want some advice? Do not get on her bad side. Unless you wanna get Avada Kedavra'd out of this world.
Almost as if Principal Lonsdale just realised her standing there red faced, he said,"Sorry Ms.Carter is there a problem?"
"Yes, yes there is a problem. And do you want to know what it is? That this boy right here, has interfered with my teaching time, and broken the school rules, but still gets no punishment!"She shouted so loud that I checked to see if my ears were working.
Principal Lonsdale just stared at Ms.Carter as if he was amused, but then almost immediately went back to his all the time face. That wrinkled smile, and an expression that nobody could tell through the layers of...oldness.
