" Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. "

"You have the voice. Now all you need is the attitude and courage. You can do it."

I sighed. "But, another girl is auditioning as well and her voice makes mine sound like shit."

"Look you got this. Si se puede."

"What does that mean?"

She smiled. "It's Spanish for yes I can or yes it's possible. Say it."

"Si se puede."

"Okay. You're going to audition for NWA and you're going with a positive attitude. Believe in yourself. You can do it."

I nodded. "Si se puede. Yes I can. And I will."

"You got this. After you audition for NWA, you're going straight to Hollywood. But just promise me one thing, that you won't forget about me when you make it big," she smiled.

I chuckled. "Yo let me at least make it through my auditions first aight? So tell me, blue jeans go well with this solid white v-neck shirt right?"

She scoffed. "Are you serious right now Dorothy? You're going to your audition in jeans and a plain t-shirt?"

"What?" I snapped "what's wrong with my clothes?"

"Okay. You are going to audition for a famous rap group in jeans and sneakers? Surely you got something better than that in your wardrobe."

"This is literally all I have. I only have casual clothes. I can't afford anything else and you know that," I scoffed.

"How about this. After you audition and win because you're going to win, me and you are going shopping to celebrate," she smiled "how about that?"

I grabbed my customer's order. "You mean if I'm going to win. Giselle, don't know her last name, from Houston has an amazing voice and she has a big support team."

"So you're doubting yourself now?"

I approached his table and set his plate down. "Here you are. Is there anything else I can get for you? Extra napkins or anything?"

"No thanks," he smiled.

I wiped off my apron and checked the time. My audition is scheduled to start in about fifteen minutes and NWA is only here in Kansas for one day. I'm not a big fan but I have heard some of their music and this is my only shot at fame.

When I heard that they would be in town looking for talent, I had to take advantage of it.

Now the only thing that's holding me back is getting permission to leave work early from Aunt Em.

I sighed before taking off my apron. She noticed, then raised a brow. Oh boy, here we go.

"Remember. You got this," Adrienne whispered before greeting the next customer.
