It felt strange knowing that I actually have a friend now. He always hangs out with me and when I'm alone, he rushes to be by my side. I was walking home one day and heard footsteps approaching. He was walking towards me with a serious expression. "Have you always been alone?" He asked me. I looked to the ground awkwardly. "Yeah..." I responded. It was silent for a while and was getting awkward. Then, he unexpectedly hugged me. I hugged him back and failed to hold back tears that had started rolling down my cheeks. "I'll make sure you're not alone. I'll be with you for as long as it takes." I didn't understand what he meant by, "for as long as it takes." Is he planning something or waiting for something to happen? I thanked him and walked home with him. My parents already met him and are very fond of him. They said it'd be nice to have someone finally visit me when I'm alone. But now, for some reason they're getting worried that I'll start to like him. I honestly didn't think of that. I'm still new to the whole friendship thing, and I didn't even know that friends can fall for each other. Apparently, my parents were best friends since childhood and they ended up falling for each other later on. I asked Josh if he thought we would fall for each other. But when I asked him that, he had a straight face and answered, "No. We mustn't fall for each other, no matter what." I actually felt hurt by those words. He apologized quickly after he said that, but I can't get it out of my mind. Am I not good enough for anyone at all?
