Ch.12
After they dropped off the rent and security deposit to Mrs. Woods, they went in search of furniture. They ended up in Halfway, and John was laughing so hard at Sherlock and how he badgered the sales woman in the furniture store, his face was red and he held his sides. The woman really was an idiot, in Sherlock's defense.
"Sir, we do not have this one available until next Tuesday," The woman said for what seemed like the millionth time. Sherlock let out a heavy and annoyed sigh.
"I know. You have said that numerous times. You weren't listening...I said, we will take the king sized mattress then, if the other is out of stock," he said, annoyed. Sherlock was really irritated. He was so excited to get a new bed, especially to share with his dear doctor, and this woman was ruining it with her idiocy!
"It will cost another...," she started, but Sherlock cut her off. "I do not care what it costs. He," Sherlock said, and pointed to John, "wants this one, but it will just be larger. He wants the pillow top one and that is the one is he getting. Problem?" he asked her, raising an eyebrow. She opened her mouth to argue, but thought better of it. John let his jaw drop open and then close again.
"Sherlock, you don't have to do that. We can go somewhere else," John said, smiling.
"No. You said as soon as you laid down on that mattress that that one was the one," Sherlock said. "So, that is the one you shall have," he said, nodding once. John smiled and took Sherlock's hand in his. He loved this man more than anything.
"Thank you," John said.
"Nonsense. I said I like seeing you happy," Sherlock said, smiling too. The woman came back and told Sherlock it would be delivered in about an hour and a half to their place. He gave her the address and shook her hand. John loved that about Sherlock. No matter how much of an asshole he was at first, you can't help but love his smile. It made John melt every time.
"Dinner?" Sherlock asked.
"Starving," John said, smiling at him. They walked back out of the store, and hopped into the truck and Sherlock started it up. Sherlock drove around Hagerstown, looking for a place to eat. They ended up around where a big shopping center was, including a Wal Mart.
"Christ, John. Look at all these people," Sherlock said. John nodded and continued looking around out the window. He saw a few places, but most were fast food; KFC, Arby's, McDonalds, Wendy's...then came across T.G.I. Friday's, which had a sign for steak.
"Can we eat there?" John asked, pointing to the restaurant.
"We can eat anywhere you like, love," Sherlock said, smiling at his doctor. He knew as soon as he saw the sign advertising steak that John would pick here. But knowing America's view on fine cuisine, he hoped this place would be half decent. Sherlock parked the truck and turned off the engine. He leaned over and kissed John sweetly. "Before you ask, I wanted to," he teased.
"I'm not complaining," John said, smiling.
"Let's go," John said, opening his door and exiting the truck. The place wasn't too busy. They walked up, put their names down for a table and the hostess handed Sherlock a buzzer, which he had no idea what the purpose of it was.
"John? What the hell is this?" he asked.
"Its a buzzer to tell us when the table is ready," John said, chuckling lightly. Sherlock turned it over and over in his hand, looking around at all the people. Some where there for casual lunch dates; others for make up dates after fights, some where there for birthdays, etc. Sherlock never had this many diverse people in one go. His mind was busy deducing everyone around him, that when the buzzer went off in his hand, he yelped and dropped it. "Oh, jeez. I'll get it," John said, with a laugh, bending to pick it up. "You can't space out like that, love,"
