The Announcement

My mind kept reeling back those few moments where we were so near than we should have been,

It's not right. It's not right that I liked having him so close to me. He is James Flamingo. The James Flamingo. I can't like him in that way. That man is out of my league. He is ravishingly hot, good looking and wealthy. Many girls might just want to be with him.

I shrugged all my thoughts and headed towards the ceremony hall.

The hall was full of well-dressed sophisticated people. All men dressed in suits and all women in beautiful gowns with perfect makeup and accessories. A world I can never be a part of. I sighed.

"Ladies and Gentlemen thank you for joining us this evening. As you all know my son James Flamingo is... "And the boring speech continued.

His eyes, his deep green eyes, soft lips, feather touch it was all so amazing. Why am I so lost in his charm? I have to get out this place at the earliest.

A huge thud of claps woke me up from my thoughts. I looked at the stage where Mr. Donald Flamingo is smiling widely at the media people.

"But before I introduce you to our new CEO, I would take the honor to announce the engagement of my son James with..."

"with my girlfriend" James cuts of his father's announcement taking away the microphone.

Oh so the brute has a girlfriend. No wonder why he was so anxious at the thought of marrying someone else. And here I was falling for him. Stupid me.

What's wrong with me? Why the thought of him having a girlfriend is painful to my heart?

"Sorry dad, but I would love to make this announcement. Ladies and gentlemen meet my girlfriend, Evelyn Stewart." He said with a huge grin.

The quiet room was now filled with lots of whispers.

"Who is Evelyn Stewart?"

"She must be some very pretty lady. I envy her."

"But I heard he was to marry Nicole Ruiz"

"But who's Evelyn Stewart? I haven't heard her name anywhere. Sports, modeling, acting nowhere"

Mr. Donald Flamingo was also bewildered with his son's announcement.

But the brute was calm as ever.

He was coming in my direction. Smirking. His usual, ever charming smirk. I couldn't believe what I just heard.

I wanted to run away from that place and get locked in my room forever. But I was rooted at my place. Shocked, surprised, confused.

"C'mon kitten. Don't be so surprised. I told you, you have to pay for calling me a brute." He whispered in my ear, holding me softly from the waist.

He held my hand and paced towards the stage area. I was following him like a 5 yr. old lost kid.

There were murmurs all around. People were talking about me, my unclassy clothes, my looks, my lifeless face and unknown identity. And I was stuck there like a lost puppy.

"Ladies and Gentleman, as my dad announced I am getting engaged. Let me introduce you to my girlfriend, my fiancée, my personal florist Evelyn Stewart"

All the guests congratulated. I was dumbstruck. Everyone was surprised by the announcement including me.

"Well guys it's just an announcement for now. We will be having an engagement ceremony soon. Please enjoy the night. The dinner has been served. Thank you." James concluded the announcement.

"Congratulations Evelyn dear. You are so pretty. I am so happy to have you as my daughter-in law. But James never told us about you." That's Mrs. Flamingo, the only person I see genuinely happy with the announcement.

Me neither Mrs. Flamingo. We are in the same boat. I wanted to tell her. But her happiness filled eyes stopped me from breaking her heart.

"Oh mom, it's a long story. Evelyn wanted to keep this as a private affair since she belongs to a normal routine family she never wanted to be in lime-light." He explained while winking at me.

God this man! He is blaming me for something I never did. You are so gone Brute. Yes I named you correctly. You are actually a brute.
