It had been a year since he had kidnapped Max and brought her here, whereever here was, and she still was not up yet. He'd taken so many tests on her and there was no success. He checked her vitals hourly. Eyeless Jack got up from the couch and crept into her room. She lay on the bed with a horrified sleeping face. A month ago he'd learned she was having nightmares. He clenched his fist.
Damn...Jeff was right... he went over to Max's side. "My Sleeping Beauty" he cooed brushing some of her hair from her face. Jack hesitated at first when he thumbed her soft lips. Imagining what they would feel like against his. Trust in the author she couldn't believe it either when she wrote this next sentence:
Eyeless couldn't believe he was falling for her. With every test he became more infatuated. But she's a human and he's a beast! Not a prince to come save her from her eternal sleep.
No Jack had learned that love was not to be.
Yet his heart couldn't stop beating.
Some how this became a poem...
Sorry about that......
He pulled a chair next to the bed and sat down. Watching the slow rise and fall of her chest. He bit his bottom lip and grabbed her hand. Enjoying the soft silkiness and how perfect her hand fit in his. Max gripped his hand back in response. "Warmth" he froze, his body rigid in shock. "Max?" he looked up expecting her eyes to be open. It was the first understandable word she had said. Yet Eyeless Jack was dismayed when he saw she still had the horrified expression. Her eyes closed tightly in fear. "Warmth...in m-my hands" she squeezed his hand tighter lazily bringing it to her chest. Her other hand wrapped around it.
"Max" he whispered feeling pained. "I c-can't l-live i-in the nightmares...a-anym-more." she stuttered. "I know." he whispered. "Warmth" she repeated before going back to her normal ramblings that was not English. When Eyeless tried taking his hand away she gripped it tightly. He tried again. She gave a whining groan. "Let go" he tried taking it away. She gripped tighter. He watched her face change for a split second then go back to the normal face. "Max?" he nudged her. When she opened her eyes he nearly hugged her, but didn't. "Jack? I had a horrible dream" she started crying. He patted her arm after she let go of his hand. "I feel so cold...". "Do you blame me? I'm the reason this happened" she shook her head. "I don't blame you, just your actions" Max sat up.
"I'm hungry" she mumbled. "All I have is kidneys" he answered. Max almost puked. "Never mind. I think I almost puked out my heart." she laid back down on the bed. He stayed silent, watching her closely. "How long was I hibernating?" she asked. "A year" he answered. Eyeless Jack wanted to reach out and hold her frail body. He wanted her in his arms. "I'll be back. Stay here" he stood up and walked to the door. "Your leaving?" Max felt relaxed to know he was leaving. She just was afraid of his return. "Yes. Now stay here" and he left.
As soon as he disappeared Max sat up and weakly got to her feet. "I must escape..." she trudged over to the boarded up window. She stumbled and fell to the ground. Landing on her arm. Max screamed in pain. Her weak groggy mind told her to lay still. But she ignored it. Max stood once again and grabbed one of the boards. Her attempt to pry it open was a complete fail. She ended up get splinters in her delicate hands.
Max winced softly as she pulled the splinters out. It hurt a lot but not as much as the pain coursing through her body. The serum was starting to take effect. Breaking down her cells and recreating them. Mutating her from within. "AHHHHH-" she fell against the bed and slumped to the ground. Lifeless as wings sprouted grotesquely from her back. Feathers started forming- long black and blue feathers. Raven wings, not only that but her eye color changed to the kind a snake would have. Golden yellow eyes with hints of bloody red. When Max opened her eyes...
