"There's a new girl, you know. The word going around is she's a exchange student from Greece. I'd love to meet her and give her a thank you for coming from a place with such devine food," Marnie paused shoving french fries into her mouth long enough to emphasize the word devine with a kiss to her fingers. "I could live on chicken slovaki and Pita and Gyros and hummus and-"
"Maybe if you put those french fries down for a hot second you could afford to eat some of that stuff." Jason tilted his head and gave Marnie his typical snear.
Her mouth dropped open exposing all of the half chewed french fry particles. She turned to face me, "Did you hear what he just said to me?" She rolled her eyes, "Jason Boude you are never going to get a girlfriend saying things like that. It's just plain rude, you know. And don't talk to me about eating too much! You already inhaled your burger and lunch only started three minutes ago!"
Jason pointed an accusing french fry at Marnie and scrunched up his nose. "Do you really want to start something today, Marnie? I had you crying yester-"
I held up my hands, "Would you two shut up for once? I think our new girl just walked in," I nodded my head towards the door, "or Harry Fesfa's over the moon excited about the meat loaf special going on today." I watched Barnaby High's flirt as he took off for the lunch line that the poor girl was in, almost tripping over the tongue that was falling out of his mouth.
Marnie grabbed her milk and shoved the straw into her mouth with her grease soaked fingers. She took a sip and placed it back onto her tray, looking in the direction of the girl, "She's definitely from Greece. I could've told you that without even knowing her." She pointed at us, "You know, my grandfather is from Greece. He came here in-"
Jason flicked her hand away, "Are we talking about your family history right now?" He paused and the two just stared at each other, Marnie obviously boiling in annoyance, "No. We're talking about the new girl and she, might I add, is hot," He glanced at her again and turned back to wink at us and motion some boobs on his chest, "Very hot, if you know what I mean."
I rolled my eyes and Marnie crinkled her nose in disgust, "Gross Jason! Go hang out with your guy friends if you're going to be a pig... And she would never go for you in the first place."
He licked his hand and ran his fingers through his hair, "Who wouldn't want a guy like me?"
Flexing his muscles, Jason smiled at Marnie and then motioned to the new girl with a thrust of his hips.
Marnie stuck her finger in her mouth and pretended to throw up.
While they were bickering I was watching the girl. Not in like a creepy way, well maybe it was creepy for her, but I just wanted to see her face. She must've been scared at a brand new school. Or excited. Or maybe she was just trying to start over. I wanted to talk to her about the exchange and how it worked and why she did it. It must be awesome living in a different place.
"Earth to Nora! Hello?" Marnie waved her hands in front of my face and looked at Jason. They smiled at each other and laughed.
"Dude you were out for a minute there," Jason reached out a greasy hand and shoved me. "The new girl is hot, but not that hot."
I laughed, "I don't know. I was just thinking about what it must be like to be her. I mean she's not just in a brand new school, she's in a brand new country, a brand new continent,"
Jason shrugged,"Yeah, so what?"
"So maybe we should talk to her and actually find out her name instead of just drooling over how hot she is," I glared a Jason.
