PROLOGUE

The balcony was directly on front of her, leaning slightly over the edge of the Hang, what they called the huge cliff that bordered the edge of the Pacific, nearly a hundred meters high.

A perfect scary-movie scene, complete with jagged rocks and freezing water.

The water, almost a perfect match for her crystalline blue eyes, lapping at the rock surface below. Screams followed her, screams that would haunt her.

Screams that came straight from the mouth of her little brother, innocent Jacob with his wide sapphire eyes; and only twelve years at that.

One warm, salty tear made its way down her cheek, staining her face.

She ran faster, faster. Ten feet, the wind whipping through her long auburn hair, chilling her and almost turning her tan skin blue. Seven feet, four feet, on the metal rail...

And off, plunging towards the frigid water.
