Chapter 2 – Truth or Shot
CHLOE
Chloe bakit ka affected? Matindi lang sya tumingin! He’s not seeing through you…
HE DOESN’T EVEN KNOW YOU EXCEPT YOUR NAME! He doesn’t’ know y—
“Kambal?” My thoughts were broken when I heard Kathy’s name as she enters the comfort room. “May problem ba? Hindi ka na bumalik sa lounge area kasama ni Joseph.”
“Nothing’s wrong, kambal. Just… just a little overwhelmed. Ang tagal ko kasing hindi pumarty diba? I missed it.” sagot ko sa kanya. I’m starting to miss my life before I was tied down to a relationship.
“Here, I know you want a retouch and I need one too,” sabi nya as she smiled and handled my purse.
“You know me too well,” I smiled back at sinimulang i-retouch yung make-up ko.
“Oo naman,” ang simpleng sagot nya habang naglalagay sya ng mascara. We were having a comfortable silence for a few minutes before she spoke again, “So…”
“So?” I looked at here through the mirror. She was smiling like she knows something.
“So… you and Joseph,” Kathy was smirking now. I waited for her to continue, acting like I don’t get her, “OH C’MON CHLOE! Don’t act like you don’t get me! I saw your heated exchange of stares kanina while dancing!!! I know that look! He wants you! And you?! You should go and have fun!”
I stared widely at her, “Oh c’mon Chloe! Hindi sex ang sinasabi kong fun! What I mean is flirt around, play around. The night is young kahit 12midnight na and there is a hot guy with us whose sending heated looks with you! We’re on even pairs now!”
“Kathy, no.” As much as I miss being free, I don’t think ready na ko to be tied down again.
“Chloe, you are allowed to have fun, even just for a while. It doesn’t mean you’re gonna be tied down again. His shadow doesn’t cover you anymore, and he has no right to be. And you shouldn’t let him. He’s gone. You’re 21, you’re beautiful and sexy, and you should embrace it again the way you did back in high school and college, before you met him. Just because he left you don’t mean you’re worthless. He is the worthless piece of shit kasi he wasted what could have been his biggest blessing in life.”
“Kambal…”
Hinawakan ni Kathy yung dalawang kamay ko, “Look, I know I was mean to you when you were with him. I can’t help it back then. He was mistreating you already and you were giving it kahit ang unfair ng actions nya, but his gone now right?! He left. And as much as gusto kitang madaliin na makamove-on I can’t force that on you kasi iba-iba tayo ng pace sa pagmove-on but it doesn’t mean you can’t have fun.”
