Hayes POV:
I sit in the back of the classroom, staring almost endlessly at the clock. I normally kept to myself here. I get nervous easily and I tend to overthink things, which is a really bad trait.
As the clock nears time to leave this place, I see my once upon a time crush merge my way- Allison.
Allison, well she's a very mature, smart, and beautiful girl. But she's one of the popular girls on the cheerleading team, with a football player boyfriend. But that's how it always goes, right? I just gave up.
"Hayes! Didn't you hear? We're a team for the next project." She cheers happily.
I nervously smile and nod my head, trying my best to keep to myself.
"What exactly is it about?" I question, quietly.
She giggles, "we have to observe the environment, weather, and time while it transitions from Fall to Winter for the next few months. We have to tell about what we see what happens during th- sorry I'm probably talking your head off."
"Uh- it's okay." I nod, assuringly.
"So, we could work during free periods and maybe sometimes after school if you're up to it?"
I nod, and soon after, the bell rings.
"Have a good weekend, guys!" The geography teacher, Mr. Stallins yells.
I exit the class, entering the rush of crazy people. I spot Allison in the crowd meeting up with her boyfriend, Liam. Once they kiss, I immediately turn away and grab my backpack from my locker.
I exit the school doors, soon finding my brother- Nash. He's a senior (18), and I'm a sophomore (16).
"Ready?" He asks, and I nod. We find our way to our car, and head home.
"So how was your day?" Nash asks me.
"Pretty good. Except I got partnered with Allison in geography." I mumble.
Nash is the person I'm closest to, basically. I'm never shy around family. Only around "friends." Why? I don't know. It's just the way I am.
"Hayes be getting it!" Nash yells.
"Getting what?" I ask.
"You really need to get laid." He chuckles, and I roll my eyes.
Once home, I enter the house. Our parents are divorced, but we normally stay with mom on school weeks.
"Mom?!" I yell, getting no response.
I find a note on the microwave, that read:
Nash or Hayes, whoever is reading this I just wanna tell you that I had to take Skylynn to her dentist appointment. Food is in the microwave.

I chuckle, and get the food out getting my portion. After sitting down, I get to thinking about how I'm gonna do this project. I'm too nervous for this! I'll seem like a complete idiot.
But all I can do, is hope for the best.
