"Maybe today's the day," I slowly breathed out.
I straightened out my dress and checked my reflection. Letting out a long breathe, I gathered my thoughts together. I needed to do this now. It's been a hell long of a time and if I don't do it now, I don't think I ever will. Slowly, I found my thoughts drifting towards my best friend,
Jason Richards.
Ah, there he was, that motherf*cker.
I'm just kidding.
He stood at 6'1, complete with a toned body and steely blue eyes that left me speechless every time I gazed into them. His muscular arms that held me every time I needed comfort. And the oh so, silky brown hair that's neatly styled in a pompadour. Don't get me wrong, I'm not obssessed or anything but I could sure appreciate a good looking guy when I see one.
It was difficult to hide my feelings because he was always there. His family and mine were business partners. We grew up together. How'd you expect me to move on when every now and then, I see his face and he's LITERALLY always there.
"Honey, we're ready to go. Are you done getting ready?" My mum broke my daze.
I shook my head lightly and smiled up at my mother.
"Yeah, let's go! Happy Anniversary, mum," I kissed her temple, engulfing her in an embrace.
My mother winked at me lightly and held my hand, guiding me down the stairs to my father.
You see, my mom and my dad were my heroes. They didn't exactly have a 'perfect' fairytale. They had their setbacks and I loved that to this day, they're still acting like they're dating. I lived my life, hearing bedtime stories about my parents, how they met, how they fell in love and most importantly, how they grew so strong no matter how much life hits them. My dad always says,'If it's meant to be, you will always find your way back to that person. Love is like a magnet, no matter how much you repel, it'll attract you right back to it'.
I smiled fondly at my father, who stood lovingly beside my mother. I wanted that someday. And I really hoped that person was Jason.
"You look beautiful, baby girl," my dad swooped down to give me a bone-crushing hug.
I rolled my eyes but returned it anyways.
My parents were my rock.
All of us got into the limousine and drove to my parents' hotel to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
Once we arrived, cameras were flashing everywhere, trying to get a glimpse of our family. As per usual, bodyguards hoarded the area, escorting my family into the venue. Once we've settled down, we all sat down at our table and awaited for the appetisers.
"Oh, Anna, Damien! Happy Anniversary!" I heard Summer, Jason's mother congratulating my parents.
I stood up and gave her a kiss on her cheek as she smiled at me. Then, came in the rest of the Richards family; Jason's father and he himself.
Jason settled for a seat beside me and gave me a friendly peck on the cheeks. Blushing furiously, I stood there awkwardly, trying to calm down my palpitating heart. Oh, gosh. I need a drink. I grabbed a flute of champagne and gulped down the drink, welcoming the sensation in my throat.
Okay, maybe now I could calm down.
A little...
