"What time was it the last time you'd seen her?"..."did she seem a bit strange maybe?... paranoid, or perhaps off beat?"...."what was the last thing she said to you, do you remember?" Ms. Stevens... ma'am".

Kelly stood motionless in front of the cop, a white pale color coated her features, and a dead stare planted itself in her cold ocean blue eyes. She clutched the grey cloth blanket, currently wrapped around her shaking body tighter, and tighter as each memory of the last few words she and Casey exchanged wormed their way into her mind. "I've gotta go back"....."I'll wait here". The words played over and over again in her head like a broken record , getting louder and echoing more and more  each time. " I Should've went with her". The words stumbled out of her mouth in a small broken whisper.
"Ma'am no one could have seen this coming, people these days are unpredictable they-
The cop was suddenly cut off by two pale white hands snatching his collar up and a fiery red headed young woman attached to them, screaming words from the bottom of her gut. "NO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND SHE WAS MY BEST FRIEND WE HAD BEEN THROUGH EVERYTHING TOGETHER SHE HAD NO REASON TO RUN AWAY SHE TRUSTED ME I SHOULD'VE BEEN THERE...AND NOW SHE....she's gone.

The woman fell limp to the cold hard cement and buried her head in her hands, as heartbroken sobs racked her body and hot tears filled her icy palms.

The officer began to re-adjust his uniform as he cleared his throat, unsure of what to say next, fearing another outburst. "Ma'am I understand that this is all very traumatic for you, and you're very emotional at the moment but, there was no blood at the crime scene... we found absolutely no evidence of foul play". The cop continued " the only thing left to assume....is tha-

"DON'T YOU DARE" Kelly cut him off as she looked up at him with a glare that could kill.

The officer cautiously took a step backwards from the woman, unsure of what to expect. The distraught red head placed her head back in her hands as she mumbled something unintelligible. The officer furrowed his eyebrows as he spoke up "What was that ma'am". She ripped her head away from her hands and practically growled out the sentence. "She was taken...she was kidnapped". He put his hands on his hips and huffed. "Can you confirm that with solid evidence ms. Stevens?" Just as soon as the sentence left the mans mouth Kelly was up off the ground and right back in his face with eyes full of angry tears. "YOU DIDN'T HEAR HER SCREAM..YOU WEREN'T THERE..YO--
Before she could continue her crazed rant she was suddenly jerked away from the officer with one swift movement. She registered two strong hands that gripped either of her arms as she began to rapidly blink unsure of what just happened.

"Ma'am I'm gonna need you to calm down, acting irrational will get you nowhere at the moment" a tall mocha colored a man grudged out the sentence as if he were a father talking to his teenage daughter, though he appeared to only be a year or two older than her.

The man was so close now that when she let a warm puff of air escape her chapped lips, it brushed lightly across his cheeks and created white smoke in the air, that bounced aimlessly in between the two.

Both stood silently for a moment, eyes darting all around one another's face before locking together in some sort of silent agreement. "Now we're going to get to the bottom of this but in order for us to really understand what's going on here you're gonna have to cooperate with us. Can you do that?" He said as he slowly released her arms from his secure grasp.

Still stunned from the whole experience, Kelly just nodded as a single cold tear slid down her pale cheek. "Good now if you'll come with me we can continue this talk at the station where we'll get you nice and warmed up with some coffee or tea if you'd prefer." The young man said as he flashed her a soft smile.
Kelly didn't really know what it was, but something about him made her feel safe, like everything was going to be ok and all of this would have been some random nightmare she could giggle with Casey about the next morning.
At the thought of her name Kelly's head lowered as her heart began to pound.
"Ok I'll go, but he can't be there" the red headed woman grounded out as she jabbed a sharp finger in the other officers direction.
" Awwww you've got to be kidding me, what the hell did I do... except for hmmm lemme think..oh yeah my job." He said throwing his hands in the air out of complete frustration. "Listen Greyson thanks for today you helped me out a lot but you're not at your best right now, you're tired, it's cold and it's drizzling , so I need you to head home and sleep it off we'll re-visit this tomorrow.
"Dude you're like one year older than me don't go trying to playing the father figure with me... but sure I'll go home, since I'm obviously such a burden." And with that he stormed over to his squad car hopped in the front seat and drove away.
"Um wow..that was.....wow" Kelly said as she watched the tail lights of Greyson's squad car disappear down the dark wet road.
The young man simply put his hand on the back off his neck and mumbled words of apology, clearly embarrassed by his partners actions.
"So..." attempting to shake the awkward moment he continued "shall we" he said as he motioned toward his squad car across the parking lot. "Yeah....I guess..if it gets me closer to finding Casey then yeah...I go where you go" the red head exclaimed as she turned on her heel toward the car.
She wiped a stray tear from her eye and followed the young man to the car where he crossed smoothly in front of her and opened the door allowing her to get in. Kelly, having not experienced very valiant men in her life time of dating, was a bit taken aback by this sudden motion, but went along with it anyway.
When the cop slid into drivers seat a second later they buckled, and were head off to the precinct.
As the car rode smoothly over the recently re-paved street, the young girl laid her head on the door and watched the several different colored lights outside side jump from rain drop to rain drop on the window , while simultaneously willing the weight on her heart to lighten with each jagged breath.
