ELLA'S POV
I woke up the next day and made my way downstairs after my ritual morning shower. I walked into the kitchen to be met, once again, by Harry's back. He was turned towards the stove like the night before, the memory of our previous encounter sending shivers down my spine.
"Good morning, Harry," I drew out my words.
He turned towards me with a spatula in hand and shot me a smile.
"Ella, hope you had a good sleep."
"I did, thank you," I smiled back at him through my lashes. I knew I was being flirtatious, but I couldn't help myself.
"What are you making?" I asked as I walked around the kitchen island towards him.
"Scrambled eggs, Carter asked me to make some. You want any?"
"Well seeing as how you made them, I have to try a bit, now don't I?"
I never ate eggs for breakfast. I had a strict morning routine of showering, getting ready, then coming downstairs and eating a bowl of fruit. My nutritionist told me that it was best for one to consume the bulk of their carbs in the morning, so that was just what I did. Similar to my morning routine, I was very disciplined with my diet. Something about Harry made me want to break those rules I set for myself and do what I could to be as close as possible to him.
Harry piled the eggs on a plate and handed them to me.
"Bon appetit." He locked his eyes with mine and his stare lingered. I couldn't look away.
"Are the eggs done?" I pulled my eyes away when I heard Carter entering the kitchen.
"Oh, Ella," her eyes flickered down to the plate in my hands. "Are there enough eggs for her, Harry?"
I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah, babe, plenty for everyone," he answered.
"I told you not to call me that, I hate pet names. We're adults, we can address each other as 'Carter' and 'Harry'."
"K, babe," Harry laughed, hiding his face from Carter as he grinned at me.
"You're impossible," Carter huffed.
I took my plate to the counter and sat the stool farthest away from the one Carter was perched on.
"Did you make tea?" I asked Harry.
"Yeah, I'll pour you a cup," he answered.
"Since when do you drink that crap?" Carter snapped.
"You miss a lot when you're away," I replied. I was referring to the previous night when Harry and I were in the kitchen while she lay in bed, but I was sure she thought I meant while she was away at university.
"If that's the biggest thing I've missed, then I sure haven't missed much."
I definitely didn't miss Carter's snarky attitude.
Harry walked over to the counter carrying two plates of eggs and two mugs of tea in his large hands. He set one mug in front of me and one plate in front of Carter. He set the other plate and mug on the counter between me and Carter and sat down.
"I have a busy day today," Carter immediately began her monologue when Harry settled into his eat. "I'm going to get my hair trimmed at the salon and then I'm going to the spa with mother for a few hours. I have to pick up my gown from Barney's where it's being altered for the holiday party tonight."
"Holiday party?" Harry questioned.
"I told you, our entire family is going to the annual event at the Williamson's mansion tonight. I can't wait for everyone to meet you."
