Here we have a perfect example of a well-rounded character. Mario is an easy to pick up S tier and a good choice for beginners. He can easily rack damage with his combos, close out stocks with his back throw and up smash, and defend from a distance with his Fire Ball and Cape. Mario is smaller and more mobile than most of the cast, but doesn't suffer from a lower survivability. His favorable frame data gives him a quick and aggressive play style and makes him difficult to punish. The only major flaw is that his short stature leaves him with a short range.
Mario possess notable stage control and can work around most play styles, but he struggles against characters that are faster than him and characters that have long, disjointed hitboxes. With no disjointed hitboxes of his own nor means to properly deal with them, Mario needs to wait for or create opportunities to KO.
In Neutral:
Pepper your foe with spicy meatballs and charge up your Super Soaker for when they get thirsty for an approach. You can also safely pressure with SH double Bair .WIP
Some Basics:
[Dthrow>Utilt(s)] Works low to mid percents and can lead into aerial followups. For heavyweights and fast fallers, wait until you put on a little damage first or else they'll be able to shield. In the meantime, go for an Uthrow combo instead. If you are the receiver, DO NOT try to airdodge. Unless you are Bayo, you will land with lag and eat a punish. Attacks that come out frame 5 or earlier can clash, trade, or interrupt the Utilt strings.
[Uthrow>Dair>Fair/Bair] Commonly referred to as the "Ally Combo", this works well .WIP
Arci's Personal Combos:
[Dthrow>Usmash] One of my favorite EB combos. Quick, dirty, and a good way to start conditioning your opponent early game. Works early to mid percents. On lighter and floatier characters, this can work from 0%. For heavies and fast fallers, wait until you've tacked on enough damage first or else they'll be able to shield and punish you after the Dthrow.
