The 3rd of December
...
As Rob knocks on the door of Kristen's trailer, his heart starts to beat even faster than on their first day on set.
It feels like a century as he waits for her to open the door, which gives his mind enough time to remember all the times they've done this before, either for reading lines together or for doing...other things together.
"Don't go there, Rob", he whispers to himself, while his hand rests on the door of the trailer. He thinks about knocking again, but as he moves his hand off the door, it swings open and reveals Kristen, wearing some of her more casual clothing and a toothbrush hanging out of her mouth.
"Oh, hey! Come in", she mumbles, before running back to the bathroom and discarding her toothbrush, leaving Rob in the doorway of her tiny trailer. (more in comments)
--
As he steps in, he's overwhelmed by her. Everything attacks him at once - her signature perfume scent still hangs in the air, mixed with the slight aroma of mint toothpaste and the same body moisturiser that she used to use every morning on the set of the later Twilight movies, so that her skin wasn't ruined by the white makeup that they were covered in from head to toe.
Kristen doesn't return straight away, which leaves Rob standing in her living space. He doesn't want to sit on her bed, but because her trailer is so small, there's nowhere else for them to sit down, apart from the table which is currently occupied by her laptop and books.
"You can move the stuff on the table, we'll sit there", Kristen calls from the bathroom, "Did you bring your script?"
He places his slightly tattered script on the table as he sits down, and when Kristen reappears, now with a towel wrapped around her hair, she smiles and sits opposite him.
--
"So, which part did we want to read through?", she smiles, opening her script as Rob continues to stare at her, "I thought we could start with this scene, I think this is the first one we're doing tomorrow, I...why are you staring at me like that?"
"You haven't changed a bit, have you?"
Rob noticed a slight smile on her face, but very quickly she returns to a neutral expression. "Is that a bad thing?"
"Definitely not," he says, his eyes smiling.
There's a hint of awe on her face, but it disappears in less than a second, and her expression remains indifferent. She looks up at Rob, her fingers playing with the edge of her script.
"I've got older, but I like to think I haven't changed all that much. I mean...fuck, I don't know...maybe we should just start reading our lines? Other things may have changed but our jobs haven't."
Kristen looks down at her script again, trying to find her place in the dialogue, as Rob continues to stare at her. What did she mean by 'other things'? Did she mean their past?
Just focus on the script, Rob, don't get distracted, he thinks to himself, running one hand through his hair as he finds his place in the script, their conversation coming to an abrupt end.
--
They read through a couple of lines together, easily getting into character again. As they turn the page, it's an unfamiliar scene - it's a late edit to the script, as it's been stapled into their scripts instead of being included in their original copies.
"I haven't read through this part yet...do you want to read through it separately first, then we can try it together?"
Rob nods, mumbling a "good idea". He looks down at his script to read, and when he looks up again, to check on Kristen, he furrows his brow. She's wearing a pair of glasses, and it looks cute on her, sexy maybe, but he won't let his mind go there. They're sort of framing those bloody green eyes. Her short blonde hair is tucked behind her ear. But that's not what has him confused.
---
"You have perfect eyesight," Rob tells her, as if she is unaware of this.
"I know," Kristen says, not looking up from the script. "They're not for my eyesight.
They're for my concentration," she explains."How's that?" He asks, trying not to smile.
"If I wear glasses when I read, my brain knows that I'm reading, and it helps me stay
focused on said task." He raises his eyebrows slightly, smirking a little."You're clever," he says, completely unsurprised.
"It's just the glasses, honey," she tells him, a smirk on her face as she looks up at him for the first time. She pushes the glasses in question further up her nose before she lets her eyes glide down to the script again. Rob can't help but smile crookedly and shake his head at her.
She hasn't changed one bit.
...
(flashback)
"I don't even know why you bother," Rob says as he opens the door to the trailer the second she's knocked.
"An old habit, I guess," she shrugs, and steps inside the trailer, quickly closing the door behind her so she can kiss him.
"Hey you," he says, after they've kissed.
"Hey yourself. Ready to rehearse some lines?"
"I'm not sure. Can you motivate me?" He doesn't even try to hide his smirk. She rolls her eyes.
"Not gonna happen, Pattinson," she tells him, already looking at her script.
"Sure know how to motivate me, love," he mumbles as she cuddles up next to him on his small couch. He puts an arm around her and places a kiss on the top of her head.
They try to rehearse lines, but it's pretty hard when you're in love and finally alone. Kristen traces patterns on Rob's thigh, and her fingers end up on the inside of his leg, close to his groin - too close -, causing him to stop mid-sentence and groan a strained "Kristen." "Just motivating you, babe," she tells him, slowly moving her hand back to his thigh. "You're not motivating me, you're distracting me."
"Mmm, that's much more fun." Her hand nears his inner thigh again.
Two can play at this game, love, he thinks, and starts whispering Edward's lines seductively in her ear. She stiffens. He kisses her neck. She whimpers.
"We should read lines," she says, reminding herself as much as him.
"I am," he says, and whispers another sentence from the script, his hot breath fanning across the side of her neck, making her dizzy.
She can't get a word out of her mouth.
"It's your line, love," he tells her, knowing exactly which effect he has on her. He places kisses along her jaw and returns to her ear. Taking her earlobe between his teeth, he bites down lightly. His hands are on her hips, his thumbs holding up her shirt as he strokes her bare skin.
It's too much and not enough.
"I can't resist you," he whispers against her neck, and she loses it. She pushes him down on the couch and starts kissing him, intensely, lustfully.
She can't resist him either.
