"Collin time to get up."

"Mom I'm already up," Colby called from downstairs. He slide the chair back from the table as he went to the stairs to meet his mother.

"I already ate. If its alright with you I'm going to head out for a little while."

Colby's mother who was very wise in her thoughts and hopes for her son as for as young as she was. She turned her head toward the steps hearing Colby racing up the stairs to met her.

"Alright Col please be careful and don't forget you have a game later."

"I won't mom don't worry I'll be fine, I promise. I'll see you later, I love you."

Colby took one last glance toward his mother who had a worried, but hopeful smile. She nodded her head a little not wanting her son to go. She was very stressed for fear that her son would not return. She had been feeling that way for awhile now. But like every mother they often feared the worst and their feels were disproven by their child's safety came back to them. That her son would return in a couple of hours and she would rejoice in a way that her thoughts had been right.

Colby then went to his room grabbing his bag and snorkel. He bolted down the stairs and pushed the back door with so much force that it was it surprise it didn't break. He then ran down to the beach he had on his white polo shirt that had a number 8 on the back. He also had on a pair of plain blue swimming trunks.

When he approached the beach he frozen. For awhile he stood there looking at the crystal blue sky and the clear water that was the ocean. He took it all in and sat down at the shore line. He lived between two completely different worlds. One containing everything he knew and loved, it included his family and friends, his sports and the ability to do whatever he wanted to do in life.

The other is hard to explain. It is still a mystery for what goes on under the water. What things happen and what animals live there. It is mysterious but thrilling. Many people have tried to explain or capture pictures and videos of things that happen under the deeps of the ocean. But people only get to see part of what goes on. It is home for them and is a whole different planet even if they both exist on the same earth.

To Colby his home is the water and the ocean although his family is on land he loves it. He is part of the ocean and the ocean is part of him. He couldn't live without this other half because it is part of him. He wished he could live there and learn and experience new things. But to him this would be the great escape the vacation he would never come back or away from.

But Colby knew it was only a dream that could only happen in books or tv shows that he watched late at night when he couldn't sleep. As Colby sat in the sand just far enough away to barely be able to touch the tide as it came to shore and then back out again to the ocean. Finally, he couldn't hold it in any longer. He pulled off his sandals and threw those into the bag. He pulled his flippers and googles out and put the small water bag on his back. He pulled on his black flippers as he pulled his googles down over his eyes. He took one last breathe before of the cool air and then started walking into the water.

Colby walked out into the water as it rushed into the shoreline. He carried his bag on his back as he walked into the shallow water. He also carried his surfboard as he continued to walk deeper into the water. On the top of his head he wore his googles and snorkel and on his feet he wore his flippers. He continued to walk in the tide and the small shallow waves till he couldn't touch the bottom of the sand. He slowly padded away from the shore and climbed up on his surfboard. He had gone out about 25 or so yards.

As Colby sat up on his surfboard he took a quick look around. For awhile he sat an waited still looking around for anything. For as far as he could see, Colby saw nothing across the horizon. There were no waves, no small fish in the ocean below him, and there were no birds in the sky at all. This was odd for the sky was clear of clouds and it was nice and sunny. It looked too perfect to Colby, but he didn't think anything of it at the time. There was no wind and everything was calm all around Colby. He decided to go diving to see what the ocean life wa doing below as there was nothing around in the sky and on land.
