Amalia's POV
As I walk downstairs I notice a strange atmosphere in the house. It seems unwelcoming or protective of something. I can feel the anger and confusion radiation from every wolf's body. As I make my way to the kitchen table, everyone is not moving toward the table anymore, maybe there was an incident. I push past men and women who seem to be stuck in a trance or some sort of standing coma. Not one person has acknowledged my presence nor have they bowed to me in respect. Something is definitely taking up their attention. I slide past the last few individuals and find what they have been staring at. Gaston is sitting at the pack house table eating breakfast. I do not know how he got up here when we all know there is a lock on the infirmary door, because the infirmary holds prisoners, not pack members, family, or visitors. He must have to sneak out when no one was watching. I approached him regardless of everyone's fear of this random human boy. He had no power over us, except he could kill us with a silver bullet, but I do not recall him having a gun. He's a human for crying out loud. I felt hands attempting to grab me without getting too close to this thing.
"Princess, do not get close to him" Someone whispered quietly as I passed them.
"Get away from it. You don't know what he is capable of!" Another nearly shouted.
"He is just a human boy. He is not dangerous. I met him in the forest, if he wanted to hurt me he would have done it long ago." I took a seat next to him on his right. He looked over at me and smiled. "So how long have they been standing there?"
"Only about fifteen minutes." Both of us erupted with laughter and it filled the room. I think the others realized they could too have a seat when they saw his friendliness towards me. Another boy around Gaston's age sat to the left of him, called Jori.
"Hello, its nice to meet you, I'm Jori, short for Joriyan."
"Nice to meet you too, maybe we can be friends one day Jori. I'm Gaston by the way." After the two boys introduce themselves the cooks realize that the others are ready to eat and they serve us breakfast.
All the other pack members take seats wherever they want. When my father enters the room we all stand in respect to him. Gaston didn't stand at first but when I nudged him and he did. He walked over to where I was sitting and scooted my chair away from Gaston. He grabbed his chair and sat in between us. I was slightly upset then realized what he was doing.
"I want everyone to treat Gaston as if he were one of us. He will be staying here for the time being and I want him to have a good experience." My father did not lift his head so I knew this was not all his idea. My father began eating and we all followed suit. I grinned a little and my father tickled my side making me squeal a little. Gaston and Jori joined in laughter and so does the entire pack. I guess they understand now that Gaston is just a human and cannot possibly cause harm to anyone. We all continued to eat and enjoy our meals, the children were not allowed to drink before we were finished so when I ate my last piece of bacon I nearly choked on my orange juice. It was fresh from the oranges just like I liked it. My father was probably behind that. When I swallowed the last bit of drink my father stands up and pulls me to the side.
"Lia, sweetheart I want you to give Gaston a tour of the pack house. I will send guards to follow a short distance behind, but I have told them to keep their eyes on you. Make sure you don't wander off the territory again without my permission."
"Okay!" I jumped with excitement.
"Can Jori join us?"
"Of course he can. Don't be too long!" My father's voice faded away as we ran out the back door. I wanted to hurry to show Gaston the place before we had to return home and go to sleep. Sleep is so boring and pointless. As I held Gaston's hand he struggled to run behind me. I stopped a bit and smiled at him.
"Why are you so nice to me," he questioned.
"You're my first real friend. Best friend." I said.
"Hey what about me!?" Jori interjected.
"You're my friend too." I think my father only let you come out because he is seeing what kind of trouble I can get myself into. We giggled and I continued to show Gaston the entire pack house. Then we got to my favorite part. The labyrinth. I have never gotten lost in this maze and I love the excitement of playing hide-and-seek in it. I ran ahead of the boys and found my favorite hiding place. I could hear them running around trying to find me and yelling, "Gotcha!" when they think they found me. It was getting darker so I got up and found them myself. I heard a strange sound as I was going deeper into the maze. I saw colorful lights the I heard Gaston scream at the top of his lungs! I ran as fast as I could in human form and when I reached him I was so startled.
