This, Rin thinks, is just exactly what she deserves for actually being a good caretaker and nurturing her small babes. She laid in bed, her temperature climbing with a sore throat, and multiple tiny bodies were crawling all around the room attempting to "cure" her. While she had previously given the children appropriate medical techniques to rid them of their fevers, she must have picked up the bug for they have the same symptoms. The sickness comes with a phlegmy cough, watery eyes, uncontrollable sneezing, and a river of snot trailing down the nose.
Tomo stuck a pencil, eraser side, into Rin's mouth to act as a thermometer, Akio and most of the children were placing Disney princess and transformers stickers all over her arms and face, Raul was laying on top of her saying that she needed more hugs, and Cyntacia and Falkas were putting their heads on her chest, mimicking her heart beat in low, rumbling voices.
Ekko was watching from the doorway taking pictures on her phone; oohing and awwing over the apparent cuteness that arose from the scene. If she dared post those on Facebook, Rin would gut her alive and hang her pelt out on the front lawn.
Ekko did however remove all the children from the room after she could see Rin getting worse and worse by the second, despite the confidence the children perceived that their cures were helping her. By the end of it each child had a different diagnosis; Tomo, the smartest, said it was because she must have picked up the previous illness they all had, Akio said it was because she frowns too much, Raul insisted she needed more hugs and kisses, Cyntacia and Falkas said it was because she was so old, and Korai and Mystia said she needed to eat more soup.
When Ekko herded all the Children out, Rin closed her eyes just wanting to finally sleep, but she felt the mattress dip beside her and popped open eye to be met with a magenta colored one staring back at her. Ekko leaned forward, and Rin was expecting a kiss on the forehead, but instead she peeled off an Optimus Prime sticker between Rin's eyes.
"Do you want me to remove the rest of them?," Ekko questioned gesturing to the many stickers that were scattered about her face.
"No, there's no point in doing it now," Rin sneezed and wiped her nose. "Those unruly, evil children will just put more on,"
Ekko just laughed and pulled off another sticker, this time a little mermaid one, from her cheek.
"I'm the one who took care of all the children, and you for that matter. So how did I get stuck with this treatment?"
Ekko hummed and pulled Rin's hair away from her face and said "They wanted to help, and I wasn't going to let them in here for that long, but it was just so cute!"
She pulled her phone out of her pocket and tapped away at the screen until she finally turned it towards Rin, sliding through her camera roll of all the pictures she had taken.
"Ooh, this one was my favorite because Raul stuck his foot in your face, and I caught the exact moment you scrunched up your nose in disgust,"
Rin scoffed and deadpanned "It smelled, and something brown was on it,"
"Well, they were just playing tag outside until they decided they wanted to play doctor, and I'm certain none of them had shoes on,"
Rin groaned and buried her face in her pillow.
"Get out, and don't comeback unless you are planning to give me proper medical treatment,"
"Okay, okay, geez I'm going," Ekko stood up and gave her a quick kiss on the crown of her head before leaving.
When Rin heard the door close, the corners of her mouth pulled up in a small smile and she thought to herself that playing doctor wasn't that bad of a cure.
Rin doesn't know how she got caught up in this mess, and Ekko just laughs in the distance.
