Chapter 4 - Neighbor

After the class, I dragged myself to my locker, placed back my books that I won't be needing and pulled out the books I'm going to be needing and also some papers, and dragged myself again outside. Repetion. That's how I view my life. I don't know why I am always exhausted after a day at school. Is it the stress? The pressure? I don't know. I just want to go home.

But then I saw Damien Sky that made my heels automatically stop.

He was fooling around with his friends beside a new shiny red Ford ranger truck. Kiefer's. I stopped for a while behind a wide lamppost to study Damien Sky's face. Two words; innocently handsome. He wipes the tip of his nose like a little boy and then laughed at a joke that Crook said. His laugh was so carefree and soft and boyish. He looked so cute but he wasn't even aware of it. He still has his hoodie on but he was wearing a baseball cap now, both hands tucked inside his black jeans. This is what a boy should look like.

Suddenly, someone just bumped me that my books and papers flew from my grip. Turns out it was Candice Skylar. Great.

"Could you watch where you're going?" She snaps at me.

I was just standing there and she should be the one to watch out where she's going to. "Sorry." I muttered.

"Don't be." Eula Norton joins in. "Really Candice? She did not do anything at all. Is this how you become when you hangout with your new friends?"

Candice rolls her eyes. "I'm done with this nonsense." She walks over to Damien and kisses him. No, licks him on the mouth. It wasn't a passionate kiss, it was all lust. I felt something ache inside of me. Oh snap it, Katherine! Pick up your books!

I huffed. I bend to get my books and was shocked when Eula kneels to help me. She hands me my things. "Thank you." I say.

"I'm really sorry about Candice." She says, her voice like a fairy's.

I pursed my lips. "It's okay. I'm-"

"Hey baby!" Kiefer interrupts. "Come here!" I could see Candice Skylar's disgusted look at me. I am so done with looks today. Damien's arm was curled on her tiny waist, smelling her gorgeous hair.

"Well, bye." Eula says as she waved her bony hand to me making her charm bracelet chime, turned her heels and catwalked to her boyfriend.

"Who was that?" Kiefer asks.

"Oh, just someone." Eula answered too quickly and kissed Kiefer.

"Get a room." Crook says.

"Shut up." Eula answers back. They all climbed inside Kiefer's red ranger. I watched them drive away. This has always been me, the watcher. Never to be part of anything worth watched. So I walked my way home because that is what I do. Is there going to be a time that I would be the one that Damien Sky clings at? Is there going to be a moment that I would be the one that Damien Sky kisses? Not the one he shares with Candice, but a passionate one. Would there be a miracle that Damien Sky would actually like me? No. I'm being stupid again. No. No. No.

Once I reached home, I spot my father watering the plants at our front lawn. My father is tall, taller than Damien Sky. He has a few strands of white hair colliding with his original brown hair. Jim somehow resembles him. Me? I look a lot like my mom. But nothing like her. "Hey, Dad." I greeted him.
