The Doctor's Hunger Games

Chapter 2

Shila

I saw John get out of the train, still grinning and waving and I started playing along. He grabbed my hand and we stood there together waving, smiling and getting the crowd going. Then, I felt hands on my shoulders and saw Craig starting to lead me to a car and Melody doing the same for John. We eventually made it to the car and started talking.

'Where are we going now?' I asked.

'To the Remake Center. You have opening ceremonies tonight!' Sayer said excidedly. I saw Melody roll her eyes.

'There you will meet your stylist and prep team, who will help you look your best for the ceremony tonight.' Melody explained.

'We will see you before you go out though so you will see us tonight.' Craig said. Good.

I liked having Craig and Melody as our mentors. They were very down to earth and easy going people. I could see that Melody had taken a liking to John, so I stuck with Craig. He was a nice guy.

Melody and Craig led us to the Remake Center, where John and I were taken to separate rooms with our prep teams.

I spent the rest of my morning getting hair pulled out of my legs and arms. I had this paper robe that I was allowed to put on and off at different times. Once my prep team were done with waxing, doing my hair and starting my make up, they left to go get my stylist. After about 5 minutes, my stylist walked in.

'Hi Shila, I'm Lucinda.' Lucinda said.

'Hey Lucinda, it's very nice to meet you.' I said brightly.

Lucinda looked almost normal, wearing a light blue dress that came to just above her knees that brought out her dark blue eyes and light blue flats to match. Her wavy blonde hair was left out. It came down to the middle of her back and had faint light blue streaks through it.

'So, what's the idea for tonight?' I asked.

'Come, we'll have lunch and we can talk about it.' Lucinda said, showing me to a room with beautiful views of the Capitol, two plush chairs and a table with some food on it.

'So, Maddison and I have been working together to get the audience to notice you tonight. We are going to get you and your partner, John, to shine.' Lucinda said.

'Ok, so what do you have in mind?' I asked.

'Well, District 14 is a coal mining district, like District 12, and what do we do with coal? We burn it.' Lucinda said.

'So we're going to be using synthetic flames?' I asked.

'No, it's going to be similar, but no. Good try.' Lucinda said.

Lucinda and I walked back into my remake room after we had finished lunch.

'Wait here for a minute.' Lucinda said, winking.

Lucinda walked out of the room and came back in a couple of minutes holding a black dress and black ballet flats. I had my hair out, like hers.

'Now, lets put this on and see how this looks.' Lucinda said.

I put the sleeveless black dress on and it reached my knees. I put the ballet flats on and Lucinda put a black crown in my hair.

'Wow. This looks amazing.' I said.

'Thanks. Wait until tonight, theres more surprises to come.' Lucinda said, winking.

Lucinda and I walked to the elevator and went down to where all the chariots were. Craig and Melody were there along with John and his stylist, who must be Maddison.
