We can't help who we fall in love with. Love is one of the strongest feeling there is, it can cause pain, lead to wars, not only in combat between two countries but war between families or a divorced couple trying to see who will win custody of their child. Love has his good side too, the one everyone tries to seek, to heal a broken heart or finding happiness in the darkest moments. I, Ino Yamanaka am in love with the wrong person, my childhood friend Shikamaru Nara, a married men, and a father. I never expected this to happen, it never cross my mind that I was hiding these strong feelings for him.
His engagement announcement took a turn on me, I felt a pang in my heart. Shock that his relationship with Temari has gone this far. I always thought he was going to end up alone, knowing him and how troublesome everything is for him, especially with girls. Guess in his part we can make an exception with the famous phrase; you can't teach old dogs new tricks. The day of his wedding was my wake up call, the day my heart betrayed me, it all came crumbling down when I saw him at the altar, memories of our time together started flashing through my eyes and realization hit me like a bucket of cold water. I love Shikamaru.
I wanted to cry, the urge to stop the wedding was eating me inside but I had to hold it, Shikamaru and Temari looked genuinely happy. He is my best friend, I didn't want jeopardize my friendship with him or ruin their special day and for everybody that attended. So I kept it to myself, putting a smile on my face and as the role as his best friend; congratulated them wishing them a blessed future.
That night I cried like never before.
