Trembling in fear and excitement as I tumbled down the dark abyss that somehow reeled me in. I had a sudden realization that I was going to never see my mother and never feel her suffocating hugs again, I was going to die. Leaving her behind made my mind go crazy.

Animals of all kinds gathered around me as I fell. My last words as my limp and tattered body smashed against the pit of the canyon were "Poor Grendel's had an accident.... So may you all." Darkness overcame my view of the depressed animals and into a new light. Released of my old passion of boredom, I knew to start a new adventure.

When I reopened my eyes, I still stared upon the cliff I had jumped from. Only this time the world had a brighter feeling and more of a faint glow. Confusion was an understatement, What I felt couldn't possibly be described.

I slowly sat up, unwillingly. I did not feel the reason to be on the same ground I had of thought I had died on. I slowly looked around bringing my knee up but when I looked up I had seen three legs, immediately jumping ten feet in the air. Now standing on my feet looking down, I see my deceased body.

Red in the face from the piercing cold outside and pale from the obvious situation. Blood surrounded me from the wounds and the scrapes from the fall.

I looked away as I heard a ear splitting scream. A gigantic figure bigger than me, hovered over the cliff. She jumped down just as i had but catching her fall. My mother had tears running down her face. The mother who once stared into oblivion and smashed me to her chest for a "comforting" hug, has giant tears rolling down her face and anger clearly strung through her face. She yelled "Revenge on Heorot Hall for my sons death."

I shivered in terror. My mom was not as strong as I. I ran to her pleading her to stop. Yelling at her I cried " Mother, men are dangerous!" I tried to hold her back as she picked up my limp body and started to walk away only failing miserably and walking through her.

Oh. Right. I was dead.

I watched as my mother climbed up the cliff. She held me in one arm and kept climbing. I followed slowly trying to think of ways to delay her suppressed anger. We speedily went to the home I was so familiar with. Walking into our cave, I turned around and looked out at our foggy area.

I started to get this uneasy feeling that something was gonna happen. I looked at the lake that no one ever came too, because they fear that they would be swallowed into the fog and never come out alive.

I was startled out of my trance when I saw my mother. She observed the lake as if it would disappear just as I had. Her face was one I recognized. That look of lost and disorientation. She wore this expression daylie except now the look of longing is replaced with distaste and anger.

Abruptly standing on her two legs, she rushed down and around the cave to make it across the river. When I finally became fully aware of the scenario, I jumped to my feet to follow. Knowing I couldn't help or do anything to change her mind. I felt helpless as we got closer to Heorot Hall.

When we did, my mother broke havock. The one man I worried the most to be here was not. I slowly was regaining my breath, but as soon as I saw my mom pick up a man I shouted. It brought back the memories of my death. Beowulf, a man of all power. One who engraves in my nightmares. Reminding me of a dragon. I couldn't let Beowulf be the reason of my mothers death. I shouted, screamed and even tried to grab the man out of her tight grip. Poor man might as well of already been dead.

Behind marched hundreds of other men with weapons all pointed at my mother. When i finally realized none of my threats were getting thru to them, I sat down. I just "PLOP" down right there on the needle point grass that was supposed to hurt me but nothing hurt me, nothing got in my way. I realized I was here.

Abandoned.

Alone.

A sense of boredom creeped upon me. All I wanted was for my mother to notice me and now that I realize she always has I stand here helpless. I should be that person attacking or maybe even protecting my mother. No, I was sitting here like a nimrod aimlessly wondering when she'll die and realize I wasn't worth this pain.

I noticed my mom started to look scared. I also noticed she was expressing her emotions more than I've ever noticed. Either that or I'm just now starting to pay attention to her.

My mother had started to turn away and started running again.I followed but, a bit slower this time. When I finally had caught up to her in the cave I realized she had ate the man just as I had ate those men before Beowulf had almost slaughtered me. I couldn't stand this. The man's head was on the ground almost near where my body lay to decay. She starts to walk to the lake. I'm now really curious. Except as I look afar I spy a boat. It was small but big enough to be called a boat. Mother had already gone into the lake.

Anxiety raised in my veins. This was a sign of Beowulf. Always coming in with a grand entrance. Beowulf jumped into the water. I sunk down under watching them both as beowulf attacked my mother. Both wrestled around for awhile until I saw something glint in the lake. It was a sword. A very gold sword, I've never seen before. All of a sudden Beowulf went after it and came up behind my mom. On instinct I swam over and used my body as a shield and leapt in front of the sword. I smelt that rotten burning smell and the metalic taste of blood in my my mouth. The lake filled with my mother's blood for I knew it was useless for me to swim in front of a blade that could do no damage to me. I knelt down next to my mom's dying body. Her head was missing. All i could do was cry. Now I was really alone.

I knew I couldn't do much but, I hurried over above the water and found Beowulf entering the cave. I ran to catch him but, I noticed wass so angry that re chopped my head off. I got such a tempur after that, that i charged after him. Something grabbed my hand. I turned around to see a face I missed the most. My mother stood beautifully young and looked as she fought, an amazon warrior. I was so happy to see her that I didn't care a man just cut off my innocent head. MY mother grabbed me into one of her famous smothering hugs. I didn't care that i couldn't breath, I was just happy to see she was okay and that she was with me.

At the end of this all it was so worth it. We can be together and go into the light. And that's exactly what we did except my mother was now smiling while holding my hand.
