Whitely's pov :
December 20th, 1980
I watched the steam rise from my tea as I sat at the breakfast bar waiting for something to happen. For being the girl who's the talk of the town I was surprisingly not content with my life. Something was missing, something I couldn't describe. I brushed off my feelings and went to the bathroom forgetting about the cup of tea I burned myself to make.
I opened my makeup bag and went to work, putting just enough black eyeshadow on my lids. I finished and got dressed in a lacy brown silk top and blue jeans, ready to take on the world.
Michael's pov :
"Jermaine called!" My sister dunk yelled from the kitchen.
"What dose he want now, probably more money! "You can only say sorry so many times and actually mean it." I protested.
"Look maybe you and him should put this little beef or whatever you have aside and focus on being brothers, not freakin' enemies! You know you need each other! What if -."
I covered my ears and sang "Give It Up" over and over till she gave up, I have to admit my voice got a little hoarse there.
She shot me a "shut up before I hurt you" look before walking down the hall.
"Get dressed the party is at 5:30, you better be there or you'll regret this , remember last time?" she said in a deep tone. I rolled my eyes and ran to my room , I swear dunk acts like a sassier version of mother.
As I walked in I noticed a note placed on my dresser. Immediately I grabbed for the paper wondering what it was all about.
Mike,
You know Whitley is going to Jermaine's housewarming party right? Make sure you talk to her, she asked about you the other day. (You didn't hear it from me though, blame it on Tito) anyways see ya there bro.
- RandyI stared at the paper rereading the words, instantly thinking of ways to back out of going. Between seeing my brother who I'm not on the best of terms with, seeing the girl I pushed out of my life, and dunk giving me the death stare the whole party isn't going to be very inviting. I plopped on my bed covering my face. After a while, feeling sorry for myself got real old when I realized I running late. I got up and quickly got dressed, knowing dunk attempting to kill me wasn't worth missing Jermaine's stupid party.
Whitely's pov :
I pulled into Jermaine's driveway taking in the beautiful estate. The huge white mansion was framed with huge trees and a beautiful garden. Tons of cars were parked out front, finding it hard to find a place to park. I honestly couldn't imagine Jermaine living in such a feminine home, but if the shoe fits.
Janet met me outside and hugged me instantly, like she hasn't seen me in 10 years, making me smile from ear to ear.
"Jermaine , Whit's here!" She called inside.
"You know it's so nice to be here, it's hard getting used to this limelight." I gulped.
"You'll get used to it, and plus you have ya girl JJ to make sure you ain't about to be getting ya heart broken!" She said in a thick accent.
