I hear sounds of water rushing against the streets of Santa Monica, California. They haunt me as I'm walking to the local coffee shop to get my usual beverage. It's a rainy day and I know what will be perfect for a day like this. A good book. When I reach the coffee shop I walk in and order my usual. Since my school is only a couple blocks away I walk there everyday. I go to college currently and i'm studying in the entertainment and technology industry. I own a little apartment just the right size for me. I grab a book from my bag and read it on the way.

When I reach my class I shove my book back into my bag, pull out my laptop, and start taking notes. Everyone finally grabs a seat as the professor is telling us why technology is needed in today's society and what we mostly use it for. I already know all this but I need all the knowledge I can get!
Soon we all hear the door slam and turn to see who it is. I've never seen this guy before so maybe he is new. He is wearing a black t-shirt with denim jeans. His hair is brown and smooth with a curl at the tip. I stare at him while he takes a seat. He soon meets my eyes and I suddenly look away. Why am I so distracted by him? I'm never this way.

After class is dismissed he walks up to the professor to get some extra information on what we have been going over for the past week. I put my things away and start to walk towards the door. I feel this presence that someone is staring at me from behind. I turn around and the guy is walking behind me. He taps me on the shoulder, so I turn to see him holding a paper in his hand.
"I believe this is yours? You dropped it," he says with a little smirk on his face.
"Thanks," I say abruptly back at him. He smiles and I smile a little back. I tell myself to stop but I can't seem to just walk away.
"Names' Murphy, nice to meet you," he says holding his hand out. I take it and shake it firmly.
"I'm Mara, nice to meet you too," I say with a smile.
"See you around then?" He ask while he backs up from me a little.
"Yeah," I reply with enthusiasm.
