5:57. In exactly 3 minutes my dad would come in. That's three minutes to get me, my mom, and my sister out of here. I snuck out of my room and ran into my mom's. "Up, let's go" I said, shaking her shoulder. "Kara, I can't go, get your sister" she said. "Mom, no choice, we've discussed this, let's go" I said. She didn't say anything. I ran out and into Sofia's room. "Sofia, honey, time to get up, I need your help with something" I said. She sat up and rubbed her eyes. "Okay" she said. I picked her up and bolted back to my room. "Kay, but dad can't know" I said. Sofia nodded. I opened my window and stepped out onto the roof. Closing the window behind me, I continued to lower Sofia to the ground. "But I'm not changed" she said. "It's okay, doesn't matter" I said, jumping down. Mom would already be in the shed. "So, you know what today is?" I asked Sofia. "No" she said. "It's take you're sister to work/school day today" I said. "You're gonna take me to the shop?" she asked. I nodded and she clapped her hands. She calls my workplace 'shop'. I am a mechanic, and I am friends with almost everyone in the shop. I knew Ed would have found out we were gone by now, but for some reason, he wasn't yelling after us. I got the helmets that I had hid in the bushes a while back. I handed Sofia her little pink helmet, and I put. on my black one. "Your bike isn't in the driveway" Sofia said. "I know, I moved it" I said, walking over to the tree that Sofia had her tire swing in. I grabbed my motor bike from behind it. My friend Merle had bought it for me.

I got on and Sofia got on behind me. "Remember, hold on tight" I said. I started the bike up and drove off down the road. Sofia gave a squeal. I smiled. I didn't live in a good part of town, so gang tags littered the walls of building. I was always nervous to go to the shop with Sofia or mom on my bike. Some of the gangs have guns. I slowed down for a car in front of me. "Hey! Kids!" somebody shouted. I turned and saw a guy, leaning against a building, smoking. "Yah, Fuck you too!" I shouted. "Yo, c'mon, be nice! Why don'tcha come over ere?" he asked. "Fuck off asshole!" Sofia yelled in her best cutest little girl voice. I stifled my laughter. I started the bike up and the wheels spun, kicking rocks at the guy. "Wooh hoo!!!!!!" Sofia shouted.

As we rolled up to the shop, I noticed that the parking lot was empty. The lights were off and it looked like it hadn't been used in a while. "Sofia, stay close to me" I said, getting off and taking my helmet. She did the same and followed me. I opened the door, which gave a little ring as I stepped inside. I walked inside and turned on the television. It was already set on the news channel. There was only the set up. No news woman or man, but there was blood. Has somebody murdered them? "What's that?" Sofia asked. "I-It's nothing, j-just nothing" I said, turning off the T.V. "Bun-" Sofia began, before something made her stop. "Sofia?" I asked, turning around. She was no longer standing behind me. I was about to take a step forwards, but somebody covered my mouth and wrapped their other arm around my stomach, preventing me from moving. "Stay very quiet, and nobody gets hurt" he said. I elbowed him in the stomach and jumped away from him. I turned and saw a man, I had no idea who he was. "Fuck you" I snapped, grabbing my wrench off my tool belt and slamming it into the side of his head. "Sofia!?" I called. "Hmm?" she asked, crawling out from under the desk. "We need to go" I said.

By the time we were back home, nobody was there. "Where's mom and dad?" Sofia asked. I finished reading the note on the table. "Somewhere in Atlanta" I replied, hooking my grappling hook on my belt. "Bunny, what are we gonna do?" Sofia asked. Bunny, that's what everyone calls me, no idea why. "Pack your stuff, we're heading to Atlanta" I ordered.
