"Announcement to all high school students. We are pleased to announce that our school, Xavier High, will have our very first school dance. Please see futher details at the posters located on several parts of our campus. Thank you"
And with that, as expected, our class broke into excited chattering. Even the teacher looked ecstatic.
I myself am also enthusiastic, thrilled even.
But I was having a really crappy day, plus the slight hang-over I got when I drank a wee bit too much of beer with dad last night (and there were shreiking girls making my head throb even more).
I look around to see Aiden a few rows back looking directly at me and as a reflex, I looked away. I watched as girls talked about their gown's and and shoes, while guys quietly discussed about who they're asking out.
I can't help but wonder about it myself.
Thoughts in the lines of dresses and dates cross through my fuzzy mind.
"Alright class, that's it for today. I know that the school's dance is a week after the finals but hopefully everyone would display exceptional results. You are dismissed, goodbye class" Ms. Granger said before leaving the room with a few of my classmates on her heels for questions.
I sigh, slumping back in my seat massaging my temples lightly, trying my best to lessen the throbbing sensation.
"You okay?" his voice asks making me jump. "Yeah" I breath out retracting my hands, closing my eyes in effort to focus on my surroundings.
"If I hadn't known better you look hung-over" he chuckles taking the vacant seat in front of me (Veronica, the girl who sat there, scrambled to her friends the moement Ms. Granger said 'dismissed'.)
"Haha" I say humorlessly "Well you do not know any better because I am hung-over and its the worse one yet"
"You've been drunk before?" he asks incredulously "Please, the first time I got drunk was when I was 13" I laugh opening my eyes, seeing him grinning at me admirably (and okay, there goes the butterflies).
"About prom..." he starts slowly and my heart beats comes near to erratic "About prom" he says once more furrowing his eyebrows, leaving me in the brink of anticipation
"D-Did... Erm... Did anyone ask you or...?" he asks "I-It was declared minutes ago so no" I stutter a bit, but it had always been like that with him "Oh yeah, I uh... hah" he says rubbing the back of his neck.
I started to twirl a strand of my hair in my fingers with my teeth were firmly planted to my bottom lip.
Oh my gosh... is he going to ask me? I-I Oh my gosh, I swear if he asks me-
"Why are you asking" I blurt out the question without giving it much thought.
"I uhm" he says "You uhm" I tease making him laugh softly.
"Ya know" he stalls "No I don't know" I say, watching his tongue swipe over his lips.
Soft, pink and oh so kissa-
My eyes widened in realization of my thoughts.
"I was just wondering" he replies making me focus on him.
"How about you? Who're you asking?"
"No one in mind yet" he replies and I nod.
"Aiden! Excuse me! I am going to steal Diana for just a few weeks then she's all yours!" Miranda screams and I could not think of better timing, though my head did give a painful throb at her cry making me wince.
