.Hi everyone. Thank you all so much for sticking by me through this story. I've had my ups and downs throughout this process, but it had always filled me with such accomplishment every time I would upload a chapter for you to enjoy.
I know it may not seem like the end of this book, and I didn't know it was until I wrote the last chapter. I had a huge plan of Emerson and Sunni ending up together in the end and all of that, but as I was writing the final chapter I said, this feels right. I felt it in my gut that this was how this story was supposed to end.
I wanted to write a story that showed that love wasn't always going to conquer everything. Sunni wanted to find a lover in Emerson for an excuse to leave Simon, but in the end, she was the only one who could make that decision for herself.
And let's not forget, Emerson wasn't the best. Sure, he was the 'good guy', which is essential in every story, but he wasn't the 'best guy'. Sunni needed to stop looking for someone to complete her life, and look for someone who simply added to it. She had her faults, and yes, most of that was due to the immense abuse she faced, but I wanted her to finally understand that by being knocked down so many times, she was still able to stand back up.
Abuse, no matter what kind, is to never be taken lightly.
