The Debacle Named AvaRafe

7.Whose Fault?

I'm left stranded here outside this cabin for the past half hour or so, waiting for my turn to enter and get the verdict. Next to me sits a very badly bruised and plastered Adrian. If it was any other boy in his place, he would've side stepped from me after getting all beat up just for coming to my rescue by the bad boy of this School. Heck, even I would've done it fearing for my life. But apparently not Adrian. Though he's all beat up,he doesn't shy away from glaring at the opposite couch at the bad boy himself.

Rafe is not at all resembling Adrian other than the split lip that he's sporting, probably by his own teeth or something, since I know for sure Adrian isn't capable of causing harm to anyone even if his life depends on it. While Adrian is all rickety and a bit restless for which I really can't blame him because who would like to be called by the principal on his first day at school! Rafe is all relaxed. He knows that he's in no trouble or maybe even if he is, his father will be taking care of all that. He doesn't need to worry. And as far as for me, I don't know what to feel or expect from the principal. I've never experienced this before. This is first hand experience for me! After I had passed out in the class, I next woke up in the nurse's office. She had advised me to take some meds and a lot of water. I don't remember how I managed to reach there though. Maybe I sleepwalked... That can be a possibility!

Just as I was searching for the other possibilities, the door to the lobby opened and a well dressed Ms. Bethany walked in and announced that it was time to get a move on. I got up with a jolt from the couch, in turn managed to get a hit of nausea, but I didn't care. I just wanted this all to end. I was growing tired of all the unnecessary drama. So I made a dash for the cabin door.

Soon, I heard the boys too join me. I knocked at the door thrice in a bid to seem polite. Maybe he might appreciate my manners and lessen my punishment. Yeah, I really do know how to work my way out of tricky situations. But no, it doesn't seem to work on the principal, because as soon as I poke my head inside, I'm met with a very pissed off face of Mr. Waynes. The look on his eyes is enough for me to cringe with dread.

He summons us inside. And waves his hands towards the two chairs in front of his table. How inconvenient! He should have known that we are three students here. It's not like we can sit on each other's laps. While I was busy with these thoughts and acting like a fool, both the boys already have occupied the seats. Yeah, that's what you get Ava for thinking too much. Now you have to keep standing for the rest of this "meeting" for as long as this ends. Poor me!

I awkwardly stand behind Adrian and try adjusting my clothes. This is a true sign of nervousness if you didn't already know. Learnt that in Kinesic classes taken during the summer!

I suddenly notice that three faces have turned in my direction and I stare them down blankly. Mr. Waynes clears his throat and says,

" I said that you can wait outside until I'm done with these boys."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't hear you say that Sir." I fidget with my sleeves and move out of the cabin.

Screw you Ava. How can you manage to award yourself that degree of embarrassment! Gosh, now I've got to wait for god knows how long. How a coffee can really help me right now. I sink back on the couch to which I'd bid adieu not even 5 minutes ago. It's funny to note that when you want the time to pass soon, it never does. And when you need it to move slowly, century passes in mere moments!

Finally, after a few trillion years and growing-tired-of-counting-the-number-of-tiles-on-the-lobby-floor later, the two boys make an appearance out the cabin door. Rafe doesn't even bother looking my way as he marches in the direction of the parking lot, probably done for the day or perhaps to light a cigar! I'm not sure if he smokes, but seeing as he's the bad boy, maybe he does!

Adrian however, comes to me and asks if I'm okay. I should really applaud his loyalty. Though he had promised me to be there for me in the morning, he had valid reasons to break away those promises and keep me as far away from him as possible to avoid trouble. But he kept to his words and for that I'm really touched by his actions. This boy doesn't even know me for a complete day, yet he made it his Numéro uno priority to keep me safe.

I thank him for all his help and enter the cabin, this time without bothering to knock!

Mr. Waynes looks over my attire once from head to foot and scrunches his eyebrows. Yeah I'm pretty dressed down compared to the girls that attend this school. I make myself comfortable on one of the two chairs.

He adjusts his spectacles and gets straight to business.

" I heard about the trouble you stirred in the Maths class today. Can you explain yourself as to why you did what you did?"

Is that what he's got? It's as if I was the one fighting in the class, punching innocent people or harassing girls! What kind of story did Rafe come up to make him believe that I was the wrong one here!

" I'm sorry to correct you Sir, but I'm not the one at fault here. Infact I'm the victim. I was the one being harassed by Rafe Karrington! I passed out in the class because of him trying to block my blood flow through my arms! If you do have to punish someone, it's RAFE KARRINGTON!" I raise my voice at the last one. I know it's not good to have an outburst when the opposite person already has doubts on you, but who cares? I can't let my name to be ruined because of a sick, idiotic, animalistic, dipshit!

" Ms. Kenny, I'm sorry to say but you are banned from the school campus for a week. And if you try entering by foul means and are caught, the temporary debarment may turn into permanent too. So if I were you, i would abide by the rules and don't invite any more trouble. Now if you'll excuse me, I have other important matters to attend to." He says ending conversation by waving his hands towards the door.

I shakily get up from the chair and walk out.

"What the fudge did just happen?"
