Will I forever
be a solitary star,
dim in the midnight
blue of the sky,
with only the steely
reflection of a
bare moon
to guide my path?
Will my shadow
forever continue
to pass me by as
I wander across
the scorching desert sands,
heart in my hands
and tears in my eyes,
unshed but glittering?
Will you forever
elude my reaching hands,
somewhere in a
distant future that I
still cannot see for
the life of me,
hazy and unknown? And will I forever
continue to imagine
what you're like,
how you'll love me
and never let me go,
your face and
your hands and
your eyes -
even if you are
never destined to
be mine?
