Must fate be as cruel as to let us have a glimpse of what could have been?

"Nicky... Can't the Ferris wheel wait for later? I really want to eat." Keeley complained as her best friend dragged her towards the oversized wheel. "We just ate a few minutes ago, your bottomless stomach can wait for a few minutes," Nicky replied in a condensed manner.

"Can I at least grab some popcorn and cotton candy?" She pleaded with a puppy dog face knowing that Nicky wouldn't be able to resist.

"Fine... just don't take too long."

"Yeah, sure whatever." Keeley immediately skipped towards a small cart nearby, excited to get her hands on the yummy goodness waiting to be devoured.

After paying for both treats, Keeley hurriedly looked for Nicky amongst the buzzing crowd of the fair when someone suddenly bumped into her causing all the food she was carrying to fall from her hands. "Shit." A masculine voice cursed. Keeley bent down to pick up what was left of her beloved treats all the while debating if she should confront the person who bumped into her.

"Watch where you're going next time baby doll, you might not be lucky the next time it happens." Enraged by the pet name, the haughty tone of the man's voice, and his audacity to simply stand there as if she didn't need help, Keeley finally decided to lift her head and to make her annoyance known.

"Maybe you should be the one who should watch whe-" She stood up, staggering backward as she took in the guy's appearance, the food she recently picked up, long forgotten. Slightly taken aback by the mystery guy's attractiveness, her eyes flickered towards his eyes.

Electric Blue.

Those were the color the seemingly familiar stranger's eyes and it felt like it ignited an unknown fire inside of her.

The guy suddenly smirked noticing how Keeley abruptly stopped to ogle him. "Where I'm going?" He continued her unfinished comeback. There was a long pause. Keeley couldn't seem to bring herself to reply, it seemed as if the stranger's eyes held her gaze with such mischief put her in a trance of some sort.

"What? Cat caught your tongue?"

The unnecessary comment made Keeley snap out of her daze and it had her annoyance -which recently died down- reignite and flare, yet even with that burst of encouragement Keeley couldn't bring herself to make some sort of comeback.

"... it's the least I could do to make it up to you, so... What do you say?" Keeley hadn't noticed that she had been spacing out for quite a while now and she had no idea what the beautiful stranger had asked her to do.

" Ummm.. uh, okay?" Her reply sounded more like a question yet he didn't seem to notice, instead, she got dragged by the hand and further into the crowd without a single clue as to where they were headed.

"Where are we going?" Keeley asked worriedly, she felt like she had forgotten about something or someone back there yet she waved it off in a jiffy feeling as if she could just dwell on it later on. "You'll see." Upon hearing the vague reply, Keeley scowled and suppressed the urge to smack the stranger right off the bat.

"Come on baby doll, you should know by now that scowling doesn't look good on your beautiful face." He grinned at Keeley, the twinkle in his eyes as bright as the stars across the sky. She did not expect the guy, who was merely a familiar stranger to her, to compliment her in such way.
