Emerald sat in the long grass, not far from the beach. It was mid-December and everyone was excited about the human tradition of Christmas. Emerald had seen the celebration before, how everyone put up trees and gave one another presents. She smiles at the memory and looks up and the stars. They shown brightly against the dark background called space. The moon was full and was almost like a spotlight on her light green skin. Emerald smiles and closes her eyes, feeling the cool air on her face. Though it was cold to others, she had no way of feeling the extreme cold or heat, just the chill of the breeze and the heat of the sun as her skin soaked the sun's rays.

Emerald lies flat on her back, the wind blowing the grass softly. Nature making a perfect melody for this beautiful night. But as she laid there, Emerald felt something land on her face, at first she swipes it off and didn't feel it melt to her touch. When she feels it again, she opens her eyes and once again wipes her face. looking at her hand. She sees the small ball of white melt into her hand and turn into water. Emerald looks up and sees more of the small, white flakes falling onto the ground. She grins and remembers the snow, the perfect, transulcent and unique bits of ice. She sticks out her tongue and catches one on her tongue. Emerald is sitting up now, arms around her knees as she watches the sky, the snow almost seeming to fall from the stars.

"There you are, Em."

Emerald jumps and quickly looks back, backing up a bit to put distance between her and the stranger. There stood Garnet, the tall beauty that always graced Emerald's life. Emerald looks at Garnet and calms down, listening to her rich voice yet too entranced to hear any words. Garnet's jet black hair and deep purple jumpsuit almost shined in the moonlight. She could now see detail in the tight curls of her hair. When she realizes she is staring, Emerald jumps up and apologizes for seeming so frightened. Garnet flashes that bright, honestly happy smile she seems to save only for Emerald. Emerald's breath gets caught in her throat as Garnet talks once more.

"It's okay, I was just making sure you were okay, you always seem to be alone or you always want to be alone."

Emerald shrugs and sits down once again.

"I'm used to being alone, having barely any interaction with humans or other gems before. Alone brings me peace and serenity, usually my own company is enough."

Garnet sits down next to her, close enough that her dark yet soft skin is touching Emerald's light and calloused skin.

"I'd hope that my company is allowed too."

Garnet says this as if rejection is a possibility. Emerald smiles and answers sweetly.

"Your company is always welcome with me, G. I love you, I only trust you, Art and Carn."

Garnet smiles once again and wraps her arm around Emerald's waist.

"Good."

Garnet pulls Em ever closer and lays down. Emerald giggles and they lay in silence for a few moments. Emerald interrupts the moment and asks.

"Is this weird? The fact that you're a fusion and already a symbol of two gems' love, yet I fell in love with you. You're already two people, at first it feels like I'm intruding on something I've never seen."

Garnet laughs at Em's strange question.

"No, it's not weird Em. I maybe a symbol of Ruby's and Sapphire's love, but I am my own person, my own experience. So I can also love who I want, and though I may separate sometimes, I always come back. Sapphire and Ruby also love being me, seeing the world through my eyes and being together in a way no human can even imagine."

Emerald didn't realize that she had grasped Garnets' hand in hers and was rubbing her thumb on Garnets knuckle. She just listens to Garnet talk about her own self with such a passion that it makes her breathless. Em smiles and looks at Garnet.

"You amaze me, G."

Garnet squeezes her hand and asks, genuinely curious.

"Why?"

"Because you're you, you're a badass mix of Ruby and Sapphire, peace and chaos. You're like the stars, unique and never the same. I love how you prefer to be peaceful though you could smash someone to dust. Your visors give you charm, which enabled you to smooth talk your way into my heart, yet I love your eyes. Though there are three, they are beautiful in their own right. They clearly show your love and passion, even your anger and distress. You are such a good mother figure for Steven, you give advice and protect like the beautiful gem you are. Plus damn, you fuse very nicely. broad chest and wide hips, yet a slightly smaller waist. You have curves human women could only wish for. Your hair is curly yet soft, makes me want to run my hands through it all the time. Your skin is a milk chocolate color, rich beautiful. Your smile takes my breath away, and I almost constantly want to kiss you. I get entranced in your voice, it's like a smooth jazz song, relaxing yet you don't ever want to stop listening. It's basically made for what human's call "voice porn", by my standards of course."

As Emerald babbles on about how amazing Garnet is, Garnet looks at Em and listens intently. Though she knew nothing of "smooth jazz" or "voice porn", she loved every word Em used to describe her. Garnet slowly removes her visors, setting them on the ground and reaching behind Emeralds' neck. Before Emerald could fully process what she was doing, Garnet pulled her head closer to her and kissed her on the lips. A soft kiss full of passion. Emerald gasps and melts into Garnet's arms. After a few moments, they pull away and Emerald sits up, truly happy.

After about 10 minutes of comfortable silence, Garnet points up towards the sky and says

"Look at that jumble of stars Em. It's making a heart shape."

Emerald looks up to where G is pointing and smiles, seeing the heart.

"Wow! That's awesome! It's like its there for us to see."

Garnet laughs and replies,

"I think it was."

As they fade back into their happy silence, Emerald hears shuffling from beyond the tall grasses and a small giggle. Garnet hears it also and looks back towards the noise. Emerald slowly stands up, crouching slightly and gives G the human signal to remain quiet. They hear the shuffling getting closer and wait in silence for it to strike. After a couple minutes, they relax once again and Em kneels down, relief flooding through her.

Just as she relaxes again, Emerald feels a sudden weight upon her body, sending her tumbling backwards. As she hits the ground, Garnet yells in surprise as Peridot jumps on her and grabs into her head. Garnet yelps in surprise and tries taking Peridot off her head.

"Hey! What are you doing?"

"We wanted to scare you guys! Nyeh heh heh! Success!"

Peridot jumps out of Garnet's hands and sees Emerald has Art pinned to the ground.

"Don't do that! You know I don't react well Art."

Art laughs and gets out from under Emerald, hugging her friend and apologizing.

"I'm sorry, you know I can never resist having fun."

Emerald smiles and hugs her back.

"Yeah yeah, I know. Make Peri scare me next time."

They both laugh as Peridot yells.

"Hey!"

They all laugh and roll around in the snow, Art quickly getting cold, even in her jacket.

"Come on Peri, lets go inside and leave these two lovebirds to themselves."

Peridot gladly follows Art and Em sits next to Garnet, who's laying down. As the snow falls, they both relax and Garnet grabs Em's hand.

"I love you, Em."

"I love you too, G."
