Detention Day 1

Surprisingly, everyone turned up for detention. Mirajane stayed with them for all of five minutes, before running out of the room to fangirl. They all sat in silence, playing with hair, drawing on desks or clicking pens repeatedly.

Gajeel was making paper planes and shooting them all around the room, with paper fron who knows where. But one of them, of course, had too hit Erza on the back. She turned around, a visible tick mark and a death glare covering her face. "What do you want?" She asked, her voice threatening.

"Nothing. Just bored." Gajeel proceeded to shoot another paper plane, high fiving Gray, who was sitting next to him, when one landed perfectly in the bin.

Natsu stretched his arms over the back of his chair, groaning. "I'm bored. Let's talk." He said to nobody in particular. Jellal looked up from his drawing on the desk.

"I agree. I mean, I've barely spoken to any of you before. Let's at least try to be friends." Levy suggested, smiling sweetly.

The silence lasted for a few seconds, before all the guys began laughing. "Friends? Us? Nice try, shrimp." Gajeel wheezed.

"Well, Juvia thinks it's a good idea." Levy shot Juvia a grateful smile. Lucy nodded, and the four began to gather themselves around a desk. The guys just got back to whatever they were doing before.

"I'll start, I guess, since I suggested the idea. I'm Levy, umm, I like reading, reading, staring out windows and daydreaming in class..." The others giggled.

"I'm Erza, student council president, I like cake, sweet things and clothes. And really big wardrobes."

"Juvia likes rain, the colour blue and umbrellas. And Gray-sama." She whispered that last part, and the other three burst into a round of applause, making her blush a deep red.

"I'm Lucy. I like writing, reading, stwarberry milkshakes and leather jackets." Lucy smiled as Levy's face lit up with excitement.

"You write? Like, write stories?" Lucy nodded, feeling slightly embarrased. "You have to let me read it!"

"When it's done, you can read it. Ok?" She promised. Levy grinned.

Not before long, the conversation was flowing, and the girls were laughing, For the girls, the two hours flew by, and Mirajane had to knock on the door and tell them that the detention was over. The guys flew out of there, whilst the girls took their time - minus Lucy, who made an excuse of having a job she had to get too.

Detention Day 2

Lucy wasn't in school. The detention went basically the same way, but it was obvious somebody was missing. The girls got along, and the boys all occupied themselves - Jellal drawing on a different desk, Gray continuously clicking a pen, Gajeel throwing paper planes to Natsu, who threw them back. The girls all talked about this and that, but they all missed Lucy. The two hours ticked by, and they were all relieved to go home.

Detention Day 3

The guys showed up on time, but Lucy was the only one to storm into detention late, her blonde hair covering her face. Levy got up to confront her on her absence yesterday, but a hand o her arm stopped her.

Natsu walked over to Lucy. "Hey, you okay?" He said in a soft voice, much softer than he had ever used before. In the one day he had known Lucy, he had come to... not not like her. She looked away from him, so he grabbed her arm. She flinched back, hissing and covering her arm protectively with her other hand.

But Lucy's movement had caused her hair to shift, revealing her face. One black eye and a gauze on her cheek. Natsu studied her, pity in her eyes. She met his gaze. "Don't look at me like that." She whispered.

"Like what?"

"Like you pity me. I fell down some stairs, okay? I don't need pity because of an accident." She let her hair drop back in front of her face, and all of them sat in silence for the two hours, not wanting to address the issue. It was so obvious that the types of bruises she had couldn't be obtained from falling down some stairs, unless she had landed very unfortunately with her fist meeting her eye, but her hands showed no sign of injury, so that was even more unlikely.

Natsu turned the fact over in his head, unable to erase the image of her bruised face from his mind. Why did he care so much? He should stay out of her buisness, he kept telling himself. But he couldn't. He couldn't not interfere. If she was in trouble, he had to help.

Lucy stormed out as soon as the clock struck two hours, her bag ready on her shoulders. Levy hopelessly watched her leave, this feeling of... saddnes and rejection welling up inside her. She couldn't help Lucy.

An arm on her head knocked her out of her depression, and she knew exactly who it was that was using her as an armrest. "Please get your arm off me."

"No can do, shrimp. Gihi." Gajeel grinned smugly. "You're sad. I can't let go until you're happy again."

Levy felt a flutter of something strange. Happiness? No, it wasn't this strong. "I'm better, Gajeel." She said softly, tapping his arm. He took it off of her head, to instead put it around her shoulders and pull her closer to him.

"You're walking home with me today, shrimp. No is not an answer."

She smiled. "Fine. Let's go."
