Chapter 3

Sunlight's POV

I walk down my grand stairs and into my kitchen to find my Dad and Larvin sitting at the table eating baked bread and berries.

I look at Larvin with his curly blonde hair just like me and his shining blue eyes no wonder ever girl in the district loves him, I don't know what I would do without him. We are the other half of each other.

'' Hi, Darling.'' My dad says, my dad is the mayor of District One and everyone knows him as Mayor Clearview. He has black spiky hair with some grey specks and a patch of black stubble on his face he is about 6''3. He is the kindest man ever.

'' Fine, as fine as we get on the reaping.''

'' Sunlight, we will both be fine we always are! W e should get going anyway we want to get there on time we don't want the peacekeepers who don't know who we are arresting us let's go.''

''Come on Dad.'' I say gently tapping him on the shoulder taking him out of a daydream ( he's always in a daydream on the reaping probably thinking about mum),

'' Oh, ok just coming got to get up on that stage on time!''

I follow Larvin out the door and Dad tells us he will meet us there. So we walk on not talking just letting the emotions pour out of us.

Suddenly Larvin stops,'' Sunlight look at me I have a really bad feeling about today just promise me one thing that if I go stay strong.....''

I interrupt him,'' Lar, please don't even go there we will both be fine. I promise just forget about it.''

When we arrive at the Town Sqaure we see children of all ages fastly chattering away to their friends probably fantisizing about being picked.

Our escort Lydia Chapman climbs on to the stage and shouts out,'' District One, Welcome to the 70th Reaping in Panem, now ladies first so gentleman I'm sorry you will have to wait a little while anyway,'' She dips her hand into one of the glass bowls and pulls out a small slip of paper and clears her voice and reads,''Sunlight Clearview.''

I freeze up but can still here the crowd cheering and someone pushing me foward.

I keep on walking up onto the stage and look out at the crowd of angry girls looking furious because no one would dare take the glory off of the Mayor's daughter!

This point is proved when Lydia asks for volunteers and no one comes up.

Next thing I know her hand is in the second glass bowl and she shouts out Kovo Scar a boy about 16 walks on to the stage looking smug blowing kisses to the crowd he saunters up to me and shakes my hand and says quietly " Hay, princess!"

Suddenly 2 peacekeepers are motioning for me to move towards the Justice Building and the last thing I see is my brother wrestling through the crowds shouting then he falls down to the ground thats when I see the arrow.
