Aya:

I was able to mask my surprise but I wasn't able to stop the smile that spread across my lips.

However, my smile didn't last as my ex-suitor had to open his mouth.

"This is absurd!" Ealen cried out, his anger visible as clear as day on his once solemn face. "Preposterous!"

The Elven King calmly looked at the young man and said smoothly, "If you would, please explain why to not only me, but to my daughter and the entire court."

Ealen's words died in his throats as everyone turned to look at him. The tips of his ears burned red as he whirled around and stormed outside of the hall.

I turned to face Syra whose grin had returned and was giving all the men and women of the court a very smug look.

I giggled a bit and quickly covered my mouth with my hand, a surprised look gracing my face. I had giggled.

My mind tracked back to when I was younger... the last I remember seeing my mother and the last time I remember smiling.

I could feel my conscious slipping away as I allowed myself to venture into the recesses of my memory.

I was brought back to the present when Syra came over and wrapped me up into a hug, swinging me around in a circle.

"Isn't this great!" She exclaimed, "I'd much rather ya marry me than that brainless fool."

I smiled at Syra, basking in her joy at the sudden turn of events.

However our joy was not allowed to last long.

Ealen and Farinol were seething with rage in the middle of the room. A blue aura surrounded Farinol as he raised his gaze to meet that of the First and Second Kings.

"You have created an enemy this day." Farinol growled, "Marrying two women is blasphemy!"

King Levindor opened his mouth to speak but it was Syra who spoke first, wrapping an arm around my waist and pulling me close to her.

"With all due respect, King Farinol, but if ya continue to speak I cannot guarantee your safety." She stated calmly, her hand resting on the hilt of her sword.

Farinol growled deeply as he turned to look at Syra with pure hate in his deep green eyes. "Quiet human! I refuse to speak with the likes of your kind!"

I felt Syra stiffen up next to me at the insult and anger began to rise within me.

I looked at King Farinol and with one glance, took away his ability to speak.

I released myself from Syra's grasp and took a step forward, demanding Farinol's full attention as his mouth moved but no sound came out.

"I will not permit you to speak evil of my betrothed in my presence."I spoke softly, but I could feel the anger seeping through my words.

"Ayalisandre."

I didn't move to address my father but he knew I had heard him.

"Grant King Farinol his voice."

Reluctantly I released his voice, and immediately I felt the drain on my magic.

I reached out for Syra and she came up beside me, wrapping her arm around my waist again and assisted me in standing. With Syra holding me steady, it appeared as though it was no difficulty for me to hold a King's voice.

Farinol growled deeply before turning and leaving with the rest of his entourage. The large doors slammed behind them and the tension in the room fell with the silence.

I was finding it increasingly my hard to keep my eyes open as Syra held me close to her side.

The sound of voices conversing fell on deaf ears as I slipped into unconsciousness.

~Time Skip~

There was nothing but silence when I awoke. Turning my head to look out the window I was greeted with the sight of stars.

I turned the other way and was pleasantly surprised to see Syra lying next to me.

She was gazing at the ceiling lost in thought.

I took the opportunity to appreciate the natural beauty that a human could have.

Syra's deep amber eyes flicked over to meet my gaze and a warm smile spread across her lips.

"Well goodmornin', Aya."

A shiver ran down my spine at the sound of her pet name for me. I bit my lip and looked away, confused by the constant emotions I had been feeling lately.

I looked back to Syra as she sat up hurriedly, her body tensed. "Ya can't do that to me, luv." She said, her voice rough.

Syra avoided my gaze as she stood up quickly.

I sat up as well and touched her lower back lightly. "I am confused." I said softly. "I don't understand why you can't look at me."

I didn't register the fact that Syra had moved until she was on top of me, pushing me down on the bed. Her knee slid dangerously between my legs and her hands pinned my arms above my head.

"Don't tempt me, luv." Her eyes grazed my body, "I might not be able to control myself."
