Chapter Three

*Ariel's pov*

After my day with one, -I mean Marvel- I head to the elevator. I walk in and press the button that says four. When the elevator dings at my floor, the doors open and there is a very angry Finnick standing there waiting on either me or my district partner. "Ariel, what were you thinking?" He asks. I step out of the elevator. "What do you mean?" I ask and walk into the living room with him walking behind me. "You and one, he's probably just using you". I turn around when he says this. "Using me for what? I showed him how to make a net and he taught me how to throw a spear. If anything he was helping me with my chances of surviving!" I almost shout. "Look Ariel, I have known you for years now and I know you let your barriers very quickly" he says while looking me in the eyes. "What should I do then?" I ask. "Don't stop training with him -it'll help you survive in the arena-, just don't show any emotion to him. Don't let him or any other careers know your weaknesses." He says to me and I take a brief note in my mind. I nod and begin to walk to my room when Finnick shouts one last thing "and stay alive". I smirk at this comment.

I was into my room and I investigate a bit. Since last night I was too tired to look around the room, I have a en-suite bathroom and a wardrobe full of clothes. I decided to take off my training clothes off and put on a pair of black treggings and a cream blouse. I slip on a pair of black flats and let my hair done from the ponytail it was in and brush it out.

I walk out of my room. Annie and Finnick are talking tac tics with the 12 year old tribute. I never really caught what his name was. I sit down with them at the dinner table, and an Avox serves me a portion of lamb stew and rice. "Thank you" I say and she nods at me. I pick up my fork and begin to eat. Everyone else is almost finished there meals. Once I am finished I excuse myself from the table to do some more walking around the apartment.

I walked past a book shelf, I've never read a book before. There not easy access to, and some previous presidents thought they got people's thoughts stirring about rebellion. I run my fingers along the spines of the book, quickly ready the names of them. I then find some French doors that lead to a balcony with a beautiful night view of the Capitol. I look down to see if any other tributes have discovered this. I see the top of someone's head, it must be someone from one or two. I step back inside after getting a chill. I ask for the time and an Avox points to the closes clock. I thank him and read the time '22:57'. Wow. How long was. I out there? I decide to go back to my room. I slip on a nightdress, climb under the covers and drift into a sleep.

----------------------------------------------

My hair is soaked in the blood from my head injury. The boy from two pins me against the cornucopia, we are the last three left. Me, the boy from two and the boy from one. He takes his time, he holds a knife in his hand and runs it up and down my stomach. I try to move my legs but two just sniggers at my failed efforts. "Nice try four, but me all know your useless unless you're in the water" he whispers in my ear. "Then maybe we should move this to the river, to make it a fair fight" I say and he just smirks at this. He tightens his grip on his knife and glides it along my ribs and down to my hip bone where he cuts into my flesh making a letter '2' in my skin. I squirm even more but it's useless. He grabs his sword off of Marvel. "Keep still four, this will make it quick and painful" he says and lifts the sword up. And throws it at me.

I wake up screaming, shaking. And I hear footsteps outside my room. I grab the remote on the bed side table ready to throw it if it's two. The person opens the door and turns on the light. The silhouette turns out to be Finnick and he sits on the bed with me and hold me while I cry into his shoulder. "Shhh, shh. It's okay. You're okay. Nothing bad has happened to you" he comforts me.

*Marvel's pov*

I stand at the spear station waiting on Ariel. She soon appears and I stand up ready for her to come over. But she doesn't notice me, she just goes to the plant station. After about five minutes standing there looking like an idiot, I venture over to her. "Hey" I say and she turns round, her hair almost flicking me in the face. "Oh, hi" she says quietly. "Are you okay?" I say and take hold of her hand. "You're shaking" I add and She pulls away. "I'm fine" she says and turns around. I walk around to face her, "hey, why are you not talking to me?" I ask, she just gives me a cold stare. "Listen Marvel, in two days you and your allies will be out to get me. It's best that we don't become friends." She says and finishes what she's doing and leaves.
