A/N: As promised! Sorry about the wait but like I said, its beenbusy with the holidays. Enjoy, guys! :)
Here I was, in a surprisingly beautiful car that had a pearl white interior that seemed to glow even at night, with the biggest crime boss this city, if not the entire United States, has ever known, and I had nothing to say. I was at a loss for words. We'd been driving for a while but I just couldn't open my mouth and I kept my hands in tight protective fists in my lap. I stared out the window taking note that Joker was a good driver, even following the road laws.
"Your driving is good." I said quietly only to mentally smack myself at how lame the complement sounded.
Sudden laughter filled the car, causing me jump slightly. I looked at the clown with raised brows as he looked back at me with the widest grin on his face.
"Right now, I am!" He broke into more giggles for a moment before continuing in a more serious tone, "I don't want GCPD on my ass along with the Bat tonight."
"Soooo," I dragged out the word, "All that being enemies with Batman a big thing?"
Joker gave me a look before smirking, "Why, me and the Bats are great buddies. He's completely too serious but he can make things interesting. That doesn't mean I'm not going to kill him the first opportunity I get, though. After all, I did it with Robin."
I raised my brows in shock, "You killed Robin?"
"What? Didn't think I've killed people?" He asked skeptically before continuing, "Don't you watch the news?"
I shake my head, "I know what you do, but to answer your other question. No, I don't."
"Why not?"
"It's boring." I stated plainly.
The Joker let out a laugh, "'Its boring.' I like that answer." His smile suddenly dropped, "That's how I ended up in Arkham this time around. Killed his boy wonder. I ended up with these babies, too," He bared his teeth in an animalistic way, showing off the silver caps, "Damn Bat smashed my teeth in. This here is Arkham Asylum's finest dentistry."
I was quiet, unsure what to say. I chose to instead stare out the window at the passing country side. The trees were all but a dark green blur with the occasional sign passing by or deer next to the road.
The Joker broke the small silence, "In all seriousness, I'm behaving because I don't want to break you."
I looked at him, a frown pulling slightly at the corners of my lips, "Isn't that your thing though? Breaking people?"
Joker looked at me with a sternness in his eyes, "Not with you. You're my innocent doll and that's how it is."
"Why?" I asked.
Silence followed.
"What?" He replied.
"Why me?"
It was quiet for a long time, making me think he ignored the question all together. I looked out the window to see we were exiting the city and heading towards the suburban country area where the houses for the rich were. The car slowed down and turned into a long, gravel driveway that led nice and rather large brick mansion that was tucked back away from the road. It looked almost to be like a mini castle with gorgeous greenery surrounding its walls, some areas even had vines crawling up the bricks. We drove up the driveway, pulling into a large parking garage. Joker shut the car off and we sat in silence.
"Because, you stick out like a sore thumb and I find it enjoyable."
I faced the pale, tattooed man, our eyes locking in place, cold meeting warm. My lips were slightly parted as I tried to control my breathing and suddenly I felt small in my seat. Joker stared me down and looked to be thinking.
"You aren't like others." He suddenly grinned madly, "I mean you really aren't. You don't throw yourself at my feet or back away in fear. It's fucking delightful to be honest! There is nothing special about you! You keep your head down, nose clean, business to yourself, just another average person!"
I looked away, shocked. Of course I knew I wasn't anything special or grand or amazing. But damn did it suck being told that. Like 'Hey, I'm gonna make you mine without telling you! Oh, by the way, you're not really anything!' It was like a blow to the gut that made me breathless. I guess the criminal must've noticed my sudden change in behavior because his hand was suddenly under my chin, gently, yet forcibly making me look back at him.
"Now," Joker started quietly, "I don't mean it like that. I mean it like you shouldn't stick out, but you do. And I enjoy it. There's just something about you that I can't get but its like you're under my skin. And I want more."
Blood rushed to my cheeks as I said, "But you barely know me. We've only met a few times."
"Oh, but I've been watching you!" Another insane smile, "And I like what I've seen!"
"Y-you've been watching me? Like, more then just the flowers and stuff?" I stuttered out.
Joker brushed a piece of my cotton candy pink hair behind my ear, "Yes, 'more then just the flowers and stuff'."
Everything went into slow motion as he leaned forward and pressed his lips to mine.
