Im such an idiot!
Daimen screamed internally as he stared at the kids in front of him.
How could he be such an asshole? He was so used to dealing with the NPCs that he said "who are you" like some insensitive dick. He should have started with something along the lines of "are you ok?" "Are you hurt?" "Do you need help?" Any of those would have been better than "who are you?". It was obvious that they were in trouble just by looking at them. The clothing they had seemed out of place. It was stitched poorly, as if some third rate clothes maker just decided to put together a couple of rags with the same colour and expected it to go ok.
Or it could be that they were torn from the journey. They seemed to be out of breath, as if they were running from someth- wait? Was that a wolf? It didn't look like the wolfs common from his world. This one seemed larger, had a larger prodded forehead, and seemed to have a longer snout.
Daimens thoughts were very much in haywire after what he had witnessed. Of course he had expected to encounter any strange phenomenon that might be lurking. However he didn't expect to see children, especially human children, to be running for dear life. Especially the wolf that Aequitas smashed apart with his war hammer. Before he smashed it beyond recognition, it looked like a Dire wolf from Kings Game.
Dire wolfs were a sub species of wolfs. They were not particularly strong opponents when it came to Kings Game stats, but they were stronger than the average wolf. They can be up to, at max, level 20. But that was a rarity to find. At average. The common Dire wolf would be around level 12.
"Aequitas."
"Yes my lord?"
He had to raise his hand to stop Aequitas from kneeling.
"Tell me of the foe you slain. Did you use any power attacks or skills? If so then what rank were they?"
Aequitas seemed confused with the barrage of questions coming from his lord. But he answered without hesitation. The truest show of loyalty.
"None my lord, I only used a simple swing with Aulmere to destroy the creature. I believe I may have used more strength than necessary to kill it. Is that a problem milord? Was there something you wanted from the creature?"
Daimen waved his hand.
"No, it's fine, I was simply curious to see how strong the creature was. I had no doubt you could defeat it easily. I was testing to see the limits of the natural inhabitants. Since this is an unknown world. It is important to stay wary of any creatures that may be stronger than us."
"Ah, i see. Forgive me for my shallow thinking."
It was awfully embarrassing to have a huge metal golem bow in submission, what was worse was that it looked as if it had a face of adoration on it. He wasn't sure if he was mocking, or being sincere.
He felt it was more of the latter. In some ways, that was worse.
"It is just common knowledge Aequitas, im even sure you would have come up with something similar in my shoes."
He remembered he had guests. He turned his attention back towards the children in front of him.
Crap! I got carried away and totally ignored them! I've gotten so used to dealing with the NPC's that I forgot they are not my subordinates!
He needed to cover his mistake as soon as possible. He gave a friendly smile. It shouldn't be too hard. His days in sales meant he had to constantly put on a friendly face towards clients to build trust. Step one was to help them feel relaxed.
